Many bodybuilders cook their food in advance and even if you just forget, you canyou can easily pick up a nutritionally appropriate meal at the nearest supermarket or restaurant. But how do you do that if you are going to travel somewhere, for example? Then the situation can get a lot more complicated and, for example, at a petrol stationthere is usually not a good choice of healthy food at the motorway service stations. So in this article we have some tips for food that is worth having on your travels.
Protein bars
Of course, protein bars are not a substitute for a varied and healthy diet, but they don't take They're handy to eat in the car without having to stop. And last but not least, they usually have a significantly better composition than various non-protein bars from the supermarket, for example. If you're hesitant to choose the right one, we definitely recommend visiting our ranking of the bestch protein bars, where we independently evaluate a range of criteria from composition to consistency to taste. And it has to be said that quality protein bars offer not only good-for-you protein, but also a good portion of fiber.and last but not least, they taste good, so if you're hungry, they can definitely come in handy on the go.

Nuts and dried fruits
We couldn't believe how nuts and dried fruits can come in handy on the go. But when we tried products from Ochutnej Onut (review) as part of one of our separate reviews, we were really pleasantly surprised. For example, their Fitness Mix, which we also reviewed in our test, pleasantly surprised us with how well it manages to fill you up even with a relatively small volume. And that's what you'll appreciate in the car, on the train or any other mode of travel. Just open a bag containing cashews, hazelnuts, almonds, cranberries, raisins or cherries and enjoy the journey.
A single packet of protein
Since nuts with dried fruit may not be as high in protein due to the relatively small portion, it's a good idea to add something else to the mix. Many athletes therefore pack a single serving of protein for travel, for example. If you're travelling by car or train, you can choose one of the products in our comparison of the best whey proteins and take just one serving with you. However, if you're going abroad by air, a better option is to buy unopened single-serve samples, which most manufacturers already offer.
Food in a can
If you don't want to worry about food preparation, a good option is to buy canned meat, for example. Probably the best known and best available is, of course, tuna in a can, which is a good source of protein and a good amount of vitamins and minerals. You can choose a variety of crackers, rice sandwiches or other packaged carbohydrate sources to go with it. Today, however, there are many more options and you don't have to limit yourself to fish.
Vilgain, for example, has recently come out with its line of new products in a can and on theYou can choose from chicken, turkey or pork, for example. All of them come in a can and are only very lightly salted and peppered, so they won't spoil your dietary efforts. At the same time, you can certainly find a variety of uses for such cans - you can have the meat with bread or the aforementioned packagedm bread, but it can also be used in various pasta salads, so it's up to you.
Cold dishes
Of course, any food that doesn't need to be reheated and still tastes good can come in handy on shorter trips. However, in addition to the aforementioned pasta salad, you have a range of other options from light zucchini pattiesor even protein pancakes, which we've already covered in our protein breakfast tips, which we also recommend not overlooking. So it's more or less up to your creativity. However, it's clear that if you're travelling for multiple days, handling already prepared meals will be considerably more complicatedbecause they have a very short shelf life and, without refrigeration, we recommend eating them no more than the day after they are cooked.
Spreads
Staying with short journeys for a moment, you have a variety of options, of course, and one of the best ones, in our opinion, ares various spreads or dips that you can dip the aforementioned crackers in or spread on bread, for example. A typical example would be guacamole made from avocado, noesneko, chilli peppers and possibly also, for example, mayonnaise and other ingredients. But hummus or other spreads, for example, are healthy, filling and can be made for a few hours without a fridge.
Jerky or biltong
Jerky is one of the foods that can last for several years and still be good to eat. We have therefore tested several products as part of our ranking of the best jerky and found that jerky is not only storablebut can actually be very tasty, has a good composition and, despite its small volume, can be surprisingly filling. Meat can of course be dried at home, but it is quite time consuming, so if you are looking for a suitable snackfor a last-minute snack on the go, it's definitely easier to buy pre-prepared and pre-packaged jerky or biltong.

On the other hand, when travelling abroad, for example, it's definitely a good idea to sample local food and break out of the dietary stereotype that most of you undoubtedly have to a large extent in your life. Nevertheless, we recommend avoiding fried foods and making sure you have enough food, among other things.Of course, it is not advisable to exclude fruit and vegetables from your diet even when travelling or on holiday.
