There are only a few manufacturers on the vegetable protein market in our country, so we were very happy when the Vilgain brand recently came up with its own product. Due to the popularity of this brand, Vilgain Plant Based Protein quickly became one of the best selling vegan proteins. However, reactions from early customers have been mixed. Is this novelty worth trying?
Fine-tuned formula
In this case, the manufacturer has relied on the proven combination of pea and rice protein (in a 5:1 ratio). These two ingredients complement each other well, because although pea protein contains all the essential amino acids, thewhich are only present in small amounts, but this is compensated for by the higher content of rice protein. Nevertheless, the resulting mixture contains very little methionine, which, in view of the law of limiting amino acids, means that all the other amino acids are very poorly utilised. We therefore appreciate that the manufacturer has added this essential amino acid to the formula. There are no artificial colours or sweeteners in the extra ingredients. One serving of protein contains 24.6 g of protein, 1.56 g of carbohydrates and 2.13 g of fat (vanilla flavour).
Bad taste and consistency?
While the ingredients look very good at first glance, it looks like the taste and consistency of the protein won't be so glorious. Early customer reviews often mention a sandy consistency and a distinct pea aftertaste. It must be said, however, that something like this is absolutely normal with vegetable proteins, so I wouldn't put too much weight on these negative reactions.
Vilgain Plant Based Protein, at least in its composition, can definitely compete with other products in the field of plant-based proteins. If you're considering buying a plant-based protein but Vilgain Plant Based Protein doesn't appeal to you, don't overlookour comparison of the best vegan proteins, from which you are guaranteed to choose.
