Exercise is a great activity that makes many of us think different thoughts and still do something for our health. But while some people don't enjoy the unique atmosphere of the gym, where they can chat with friends and try out a variety of differentmachines, some people prefer to shut themselves in their homes and work out alone with the music of their choice playing loudly. But where is better to practice? And what are the advantages and disadvantages of each of these options? That's what we'll look at in this article.

Exercising at home

Let's start with exercising at home, which has a huge many advantages, but on the other hand, also some disadvantages to consider. Let's take a look at it:

Advantages

First, let's look at the advantages of home exercise, of which there are many. You can arrange your gym exactly to your liking, it's always nearby and you don't have to spend time commuting.

You have your own equipment

If you have the space to set up your own gym, it's definitely a great idea. And as we wrote in our article on home gym equipment, you have a range of options for what you put in your gym. If you like to work out with your own weight, trapeze bars and barbells can be a good option, and if you prefer strength training, buy a good quality barbell. Even in a relatively small space, you can fit a lot in and if you choose only the equipment you really need, you'll get a great workout in your own gym.

You don't waste time

If you have to drive half an hour to the nearest gym, or only have to change trains a few times to get to a public gym, you'll be ableon public transport, you know that every workout is incredibly time-consuming. But once you have a gym in the basement of your own house, for example, it's a short walk away and you can work out in the morning before work or any other time you have a moment of peace.

Save money on joining

We probably don't need to tell you that gym passes can get quite expensive. If you buy adjustable one-arms and some basic axes for your home gym, the initial investment is also quite highbut on the other hand, such equipment lasts for many years without any problems and when you get tired of your home gym, the discs and axes can be sold relatively well. So you can say that if you exercise regularly at home, you will save some money in addition to time.

You have privacy

If you're just starting out as an athlete and don't want others watching you, a home gym is a great solution. You will have complete privacy, you won't have to rush anywhere because there are no other people waiting for your machineand you'll be able to put on exactly the music you like and do whatever you feel like doing. At the same time, you don't have to worry about what clothes to wear, whether you have headphones or anything like that.

Even with a relatively small amount of equipment, you can get away with a great workout.

Cons

On the other hand, home fitness also has a number of disadvantages. In particular, there are these:

Limited equipment

Perhaps the biggest problem can be that if you don't have the equipment for a home gymYou' ll probably never have the kind of equipment they have at a good gym. And although you can get a surprisingly good workout at home, of course it's never going to match a gym in the long run, which is probably the biggest limitation.

Lack of communication

If, like us, you've been working out at home for a while and you're not the very introverted type, you'll probably be frustrated by the lack of communication. After all, a good atmosphere at the gym and the chance to meet friends can make you feel more confident about working out.more fun, and if you're motivated by your surroundings, you can lift more or train harder , for example.

The equipment in the gym will definitely be better. But at the same time, you can chat with your friends.

The complexity of maintaining attention

Most people have a number of chores to do at home in addition to the gym and other responsibilities, so it's possible that even though he hasyou have the whole day free, you might actually prefer to cook a meal first, then mow the lawn and then realise you don't feel like exercising today. For some people, it can be very difficult to get to the gym that you have within the house, where thewhere you sleep, eat and do all the other activities.

Exercising at the gym

The disadvantages of home exercise are, of course, very easily solved by exercise in the gym, but you lose all the benefits of home exercise. So you have to get to the gym, pay for the entrance fee, and at the end of the day, you have to squeeze between people and wait in line for the machine that someone who happens to spend half the time at the gym bar drinking some intra workout.

Don't overlook
Not sure how often it's a good idea to exercise? In this article, we'll give you the answer.

How about both?

On the other hand, it's worth pointing out that home workouts are not in some mutually exclusive relationship with gym workouts. If you have unused space at home in which you would like to set up a home gym, we definitely recommend doing soand you may find that even with basic equipment you can get a really good workout. And chances are that your equipment will also be slightly different from the one at the gym - instead of the classic pulleys, you canyou can use resistance bands, invent new variations of exercises with ordinary dumbbells and axes, and so on. Ultimately, you can give your muscles a new boost by, for example, doingby working out at home one week and going to the gym the next. Or you could change gyms every other day, for example. You have a variety of options, but the two types of training can complement each other really well.

You are able to get away with a really good workout, you equip your gym to your liking, you won't waste any timetime on the road, plus you'll have privacy and you'll even manage to save a little money in the long run. On the other hand, it has its drawbacks, for example, you only have limited equipment, it can weighYou may lack communication with your friends and it may be difficult to motivate yourself to exercise.
