Compared to other vitamins, vitamin E is quite neglected. This is a great pity, because it is an extremely important nutrientthat performs a myriad of very important functions in our bodies. Detailed analysis of the best vitamins E
In our ranking of the best vitamin E products, the best performer was Vitamin E 400 from MedPharma. We especially like the fact that the manufacturer managed to create a very reliable product at a minimal price, which contains vitamin E in absolutely sufficient quantities. As a result, we were served a supplement with the best price/quality ratio.
Advantages:
- Very good price
- Great value for money
- Vitamin E contained in a completely sufficient amount
- The package lasts for a really long time
Disadvantages:
- Not suitable for vegans
About the Manufacturer:
MedPharma is not a conventional supplement manufacturer. You won't find proteins, pre-workouts or creatine in its repertoire. This Czech company focuses on the design, development, manufacture, distribution and subsequent sale of dietary supplements designed to support a healthy lifestyle. It therefore primarily offers vitamins and minerals, or various herbal extracts. It has been active in the health food market since 2000, so it has a wealth of experience in this area. MedPharma products can be found primarily in pharmacies, but are gradually appearing in the offer of e-shops with classic supplements. You may have also come across them in our comparison of the best magnesium supplements or in our ranking of the best probiotics.
In one dose (1 tablet) you will find:
- 268 mg of vitamin E
Vitamin E is contained here in the form of alpha-tocopherol, the best and most commonly found form ever. The amount is really high - 268 mg is equivalent to 400 IU (international unit), which is about 2233% of the recommended daily allowance. Although this amount is divided into two days, as this product is taken only once every two days, it isbut it is still such a large dose that it far exceeds what your body actually needs.
Final assessment:
MedPharma Vitamin E 400 may not look spectacular at first glance compared to other products on the market, but it does its job more than well. For a very affordable price, you get a quality vitamin that will easily solve any vitamin E deficiency you might be suffering from. It doesn't contain any harmful or controversial substance in its composition, so there's no reason not to give it a chance. Moreover, as I wrote above, it offers the best price-performance ratio by far.
The next place in our ranking was taken by Vitamin E 400 I.U. LIFE+ from Amix. Specifically, this is a product from the Green Day line, where more emphasis is placed on the quality of the ingredients used. In this case, in addition to vitamin E, we also find vitamin C, selenium and zinc, which make the final effect even better.
Benefits:
- High vitamin E content
- High quality ingredients
- Also contains vitamin C, selenium and zinc
- One pack lasts 100 days
Disadvantages:
- Need to dose two capsules per day
About the Manufacturer:
The Amix brand probably needs no introduction to sports supplement fans. However, Amix Vitamin E 400 I.U. LIFE+ belongs to a special line of products called Green Day. What makes products with this label different from the rest of the British company's repertoire? Amix Green Day aims to reveal the power of nature. What do you mean by that? In the production of all the supplements from this range, great emphasis has been placed on the use of high-quality natural ingredients. You may have come across Amix Green Day products in our comparison of the best vitamin D supplements or in our ranking of the best probiotics.
In one serving (2 capsules) you will find:
- 268 mg of vitamin E
- 192 mg of vitamin C
- 15 mg of zinc
- 200 mcg selenium
We don't even need to mention that 268 mg of vitamin E (400 IU) is far beyond what the human body actually needs. On the contrary, the presence of three other substances that also have great benefits for the human body deserves attention. The first of these is vitamin C, which also belongs to the group of powerful antioxidants. Its combination with vitamin E is therefore very effective and efficient in the fight against free radicals. The minerals zinc and selenium are also known for their antioxidant effect. Both substances can be found here in a very usable form and in sufficient quantities.
Final review:
Amix Vitamin E 400 I.U. LIFE+ stands out compared to its competitors because it contains moreAmix Auxiliary has more than one added ingredient that supports the antioxidant effect of vitamin E. However, if you are only interested in vitamin E supplementation, this product is probably a bit useless for you. As far as the content of this vitamin is concerned, it is no different from the vast majority of competing supplements, but it does come out a bit more expensive in terms of price. On the other hand, if you appreciate the presence of added substances, this price is completely justified. Ultimately, it depends on your preferences.
High doses of vitamin E may not suit everyone. The human body doesn't need much of the vitamin, and excess amounts are stored in adipose tissue. If you are an athlete who prefers supplements that offer active ingredients in amounts that the recommended daily doses and does not exceed it unnecessarily, GreenFood Vitamin E will definitely catch your eye. One capsule of this product contains 12 mg of vitamin E, which is exactly the recommended daily amount.
Benefits:
- Convenient price
- High-quality workmanship
- Suitable for vegans
- Ideal amount of vitamin E
Disadvantages:
- Some may find the active ingredient content low
About the manufacturer:
The Czech brand GreenFood started as a small family business, but has grown to an international market in its more than 25 years of operation. Its products can be found in Germany, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria. GreenFood's main priority is to produce quality products using first-class ingredients. Therefore, it does not use preservatives, chemical dyes, stabilisers or added sugar in its products. All products are also suitable for allergy sufferers and vegetarians. You may have already come across GreenFood products in our comparison of the best probiotics or in our ranking of the best digestive enzymes.
In one dose (1 capsule) you will find:
- 12 mg of vitamin E
If you follow our supplement comparisons regularly, you will have noticed thatthat we often highlight the purity of GreenFood products and the absence of unnecessary additives. This time will be no different. In one capsule (of plant origin) of their vitamin E you will find only 12 mg of alpha-tocopherol, plus silica and magnesium stearate, which are supposed to hold the whole product together. These substances are completely harmless and although magnesium stearate is most commonly usedis most commonly made from animal fats, there are also variants made from vegetable fats. The product is therefore still suitable for vegans.
Final assessment:
The main attractions of this product are undoubtedly the purity of the ingredients and the moderate amount of vitamin E. So if you are careful about what substances you take into your body, you will undoubtedly be satisfied with this product. The low price is also a big plus, which, given the quality and purity of the ingredients, would could easily be higher and we would still consider it adequate. But it's clear that if you're looking for a supplement that will offer you the highest amount ofamount of active ingredient, GreenFood's E is definitely not the right one for you.
Swanson is also represented in our ranking. Its product called Vitamin E 400 IU impressed us thanks to its excellent price-quality ratio and also thanks to its pure and high-quality composition. Although the manufacturer does not list the specific form in which vitamin E is found in its product, given the IU value and the amount ofof vitamin E, it can be assumed that it is synthetic alpha-tocopherol (1 mg of synthetic alpha-tocopherol is equivalent to 2.22 IU).
Benefits:
- Fair price
- Vitamin E in sufficient quantities
- No unnecessary additives
Disadvantages:
- Natural form of alpha-tocopherol is slightly preferable
About the Manufacturer:
You may not come across Swanson products very often in the Czech Republic, but that doesn't change their quality. The history of the American Swanson Health Products company dates back to 1969. Its founders set out to bring quality nutritional supplements to the market to help people achieve a healthy lifestyle. Since 2018, when the entire company was rebranded, the company started calling itself simply Swanson. You might have come across Swanson products in a ranking of the best vitamin D supplements or a comparison of the best zinc supplements.
In one dose (1 capsule) you will find:
- 180 mg of vitamin E
One hundred and eighty milligrams of vitamin E is quite sufficient no matter what form the alpha-tocopherol is in. But it is true that, generally speaking, natural alpha-tocopherol is considered a better choice. This is due to the different structure of the two substances. The human body absorbs the natural alpha-tocopherol molecules much better, while its synthetic version is less easy for it to use. It should be noted, however, that unless you suffer from some major vitamin E deficiency, this difference will have virtually no effect on you. It is still a dose representing about many times what is considered the recommended daily allowance.
Final assessment:
While some might argue the suitability of a synthetic form of alpha-tocopherol, I personally don't see a problem with a product this high in the active ingredient. In addition, Swanson Vitamin E 400 IU comes out very well in terms of price, and ultimatelyIn the final analysis, there is no reason why we would not recommend it to basically anyone who has not been impressed by previous products.
If you are looking for a product offering an exceptionally pure formula based only on high quality ingredients, Viridian's Vitamin E 330mg 400iu is guaranteed to impress. Apart from natural alpha-tocopherol and a capsule made of vegetable cellulose, you will find absolutely nothing else in the package.
Benefits:
- Very pure and high quality ingredients
- High vitamin E content
- All product ingredients are 100% active
Disadvantages:
- High price
About the Manufacturer:
British company Viridian prides itself primarily on being environmentally friendly, withThe company is committed to the natural origin of its products and above all to their premium quality. For this reason, all its products are 100% bioactive, the capsules used are of plant origin and contain no artificial substances. This strategy is really paying off for the company, because thanks to its quality, it is the only EuropeanThe company's quality is becoming more and more popular in the European sports nutrition market. At MyFitnessio, you may have come across Viridian products, for example, in the ranking of the best zinc supplements or in the comparison of the best nootropics.
In one dose (1 capsule) you will find:
- 330 mg of vitamin E
In terms of active ingredient content, Viridian's vitamin E ranks at the top of our ranking. But the question remains whether something like this is even needed. Other products also contain too much vitamin E, so I don't think a few extra mg will help. What can't be faulted is the purity of the ingredients. Apart from the vegetable capsule and the active ingredient, the product contains nothing at all. Something like that is definitely not common in the field of sports supplements today.
Final evaluation:
The biggest negative of Viridian Vitamin E 330mg 400iu is its high price. You won't find a single more expensive product in the entire ranking, which speaks for itself. Of course, the price goes hand in hand with the content of the active ingredient and the purity of the composition, but there is not much to be invented in a product of this type. Once the product contains enough vitamin E and does not contain any potentially harmful substances, it is hard to improve it any further. At this point, you could argue that Viridian does not contain magnesium stearate or silica, which are found in other products. While this is true and certainly a definite advantage, it certainly does not compensate for such a high price. So, if you decide to invest in this product, you have to expect to pay quite a bit extra.
Vita-E from Extrifit is a supplement with a very high content of vitamin E. Each capsule contains nearly 300 mg of natural alpha-tocopherol. Such a dose will amply cover the need of every athlete, no matter how much vitamin he takes from the regular diet. It is not the cheapest product, but it still performs very well in terms of value for money.
Benefits:
- High active ingredient content
- Alpha-tocopherol contained in natural form
- One pack will last you 100 days
Disadvantages:
- Higher price
About the Manufacturer:
If you're not a complete newcomer to strength sports, you've certainly heard of the Extrifit brand. In fact, one of the most well-known Czech companies in the field of sports products prides itself on the fact thatthat its products are made to meet the demands of the most demanding athletes. All of the company's supplements meet the highest quality requirements and are therefore very popular among heavy iron enthusiasts. We have shared our experience with the Extrifit brand with you in our review of the hardcore pre-workout Agrezz or in our ranking of the best whey proteins.
In one serving (1 capsule) you will find:
- 294 mg of vitamin E
A hefty dose of natural alpha-tocopherol. That's how Vita-E could be described in a nutshell. Of course, a high content of the active substance is always a positive, especially if it is in natural form. As I have written several times before, however, in the case of vitamin E in particular, its excessively high content is unnecessary. Since the recommended daily dose is 12 mg, the higher alpha-tocopherol content is more of a marketing ploy.
Final assessment:
Vita-E is suitable for anyone who is looking for a product with the highest alpha-tocopherol content, but does not want to spend a lot of money on vitamin E from Viridian. This is because price-wise, this supplement comes out to be quite affordable and although it is definitely not one of the cheapest products, it won't break the bank. Still, I think that if you don't need the most potent ingredients at any price, you can find a better option for less money.
Vitamin E 100 mg from VitaHarmony is the ideal choice for anyone trying to save as much as possible when choosing supplements. It is the cheapest product ever when calculated per daily dose. However, a low price does not automatically mean zero effect at the same time. On the contrary. Vitamin E from VitaHarmony is definitely one of the quality supplements that perform their function more than well.
Benefits:
- Very good price
- The package lasts for about 4 months
- Allergen-free
Disadvantages:
- Lower active ingredient content
About the manufacturer:
VitaHarmony may not be one of the most popular sports nutrition manufacturers, but its rootHowever, its roots go back to one of the oldest (if not the oldest) purely Czech multivitamins. Already in 1991, the thirty-ingredient multivitamin CentralVita saw the light of day for the first time. VitaHarmony started to operate on the market only a few years later. It succeeded in establishing itself mainly thanks to inspiration from the products of overseas companies and the subsequent cooperation with its sister company in the USA. VitaHarmony offers vitamins, minerals, plant extracts and much more. You may have come across its products in our ranking of the best antioxidants or in our comparison of the best B vitamins, for example .
In one dose (1 tablet) you will find:
- 100 mg of vitamin E
One tablet of vitamin E from VitaHarmony contains 100 mg of alpha-tocopherol. While this amount is much lower than most other products, it is still more than adequate. On the other hand, it should be noted that the manufacturer recommends dosing one tablet every two days. In effect, you will therefore take an average of 50 mg of vitamin E per day. When analyzing the composition, however, it is necessary to point out one more thing. There is the dye cochineal (in recent years better known as carminic acid). This substance has been linked to a number of potential health risks. For this reason, we consider its presence to be a big minus.
Final assessment:
If price is a major factor for you when choosing supplements, then VitaHarmony's Vitamin E 100 mg is the one for you. It may not contain the same amount of active ingredient as the competition, but ultimately that doesn't matter. Fifty milligrams of vitamin E per day is a sufficient dose and quite easily enough for the needs of the vast majority of people. While it's true that there are many better alternatives, if you're only taking E as a preventative measure, it will serve you more than well.
Vitamin E 400 IU with Tocopherols from Now Foods combines the power of alpha-tocopherol with other tocopherol isomers. In addition, it has GMP certification, which ensures that all the requirements of the manufacturing process have been met.All manufacturing procedures are followed to ensure maximum efficiency and safety of the product.
Benefits:
- High active ingredient content
- Multiple pack sizes to choose from
- One pack lasts up to 100 days
Disadvantages:
- Higher price
About the Manufacturer:
Now Foods' roots date back to the 1960s. For over half a century, the company has been trying to pass on the values associated with a healthy lifestyle through its products. The company's emphasis on premium quality is understandably a top priority. In addition to dietary supplements, the company also produces products such as cosmetics, health foods and pet food. You may have come across Now Foods products in our ranking of the best magnesium supplements or in our comparison of the best antioxidants.
In one serving (1 capsule) you will find:
- 268 mg of vitamin E
The manufacturer states that in addition to the alpha-tocopherol content, there are other tocopherol isomers in the formula. The problem is that vitamin E is not like CBD oils. In these, the presence of the full spectrum of cannabinoids and flavonoids is a big plus, whereas in vitamin E, beta-tocopherol and other substances don't play much of an effect. Alpha-tocopherol is the most potent form of vitamin E, and in a product like this, it is abundantly sufficient on its own. Therefore, this is more of a marketing ploy than anything else.
Final assessment:
Vitamin E from Now Foods has the same problem as the previous product from Amix. Both are reliable supplements that you definitely won't go wrong with. But truth be told, it's really hard to find anything about them that makes them superior to the competition. They'll help you supplement your vitamin E without a problem, but why not prefer a cheaper product instead? The advantage of Now Foods' supplements is that they offer their products in multiple sizes, which is otherwise not very common. So if you're looking for vitamin E in a smaller package, you'll probably see this factor as an advantage.
Finally, we have Super Vitamin E 400IU from Life Extension. How is it possible that such a high quality product is at the bottom of our ranking? The reason is the high price. In vitamin E supplements, there is simply not much room for the manufacturer to impress with a sophisticated formula, which plays into the hands of products from the lower price category.
Advantages:
- High quality and pure ingredients
- Proven manufacturer
- Pack lasts for 3 months
Disadvantages:
- Really high price
About the manufacturer:
The Life Extension brand is under the umbrella of Life Extension Europe, a company that focuses on manufacturing products that support a healthy lifestyle. Life Extension has been manufacturing dietary supplements since the 1980s. Today, the brand has a reputation as a quality manufacturer of premium supplements. All Life Extension products are very strictly controlled to meet the highest standards. You may have come across them in our ranking of the best collagens or in our comparison of the best zinc supplements.
In one dose you will find:
- 268 mg of vitamin E
If you've ever heard of the Life Extension brand, it won't surprise you that it contains the highest quality alpha-tocopherol. In terms of quantity, we're talking about the classic 400 IU dose, but as has been said many times, a much lower dose is quite sufficient for our body. As for the other substances in the capsule, you will find only gelatin, glycerin and water.
Final assessment:
Life Extension Super Vitamin E 400IU is a premium quality product, but it comes at a high price. This is understandable for many supplements, and given the quality of the product, it is often worth paying extra for it. But with vitamin E in particular, there is very little difference between the best quality product and the mediocre one. However, if you don't mind paying extra, this is the product for you.

What should I know about vitamin E?
Vitamins are substances that the human body cannot make on its own, but are extremely important for its vital functions. In our body, they perform countless functions in key processes without which our body would not be able to function properly. Vitamins are divided into two groups according to whether they are water soluble or fat soluble. The first group includes B vitamins and vitamin C. On the other hand, fat-soluble vitamins A, D, K and last but not least vitamin E, which is crucial for us at the moment.
Vitamin E is characterised above all by its extremely strong antioxidant effect. It is therefore essential for the health of the body to ensure a sufficient intake. Since vitamin E belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins, it canIt can be stored by the body to a certain extent, but it is still necessary to replenish it continuously. However, vitamin E is not just one substance. In fact, it is a group of eight chemicals in total - four tocopherol and four tocotrienol isomers. The most important one for us is alpha-tocopherol, so if I don't specify the form of vitamin E, it will be this one.
The main health benefits of vitamin E
Compared to other vitamins, this one is quite unobtrusive. Most people think of the term "vitamins" first and foremost as vitamin C, B-complex, maybe even vitamins D or A. Vitamin E tends to be overlooked. In reality, however, it is extremely important and plays an indispensable role in our bodies. what are its main health benefits?
Vitamin E is a very powerful antioxidant
Have you ever heard of free radicals or oxidative stress? Free radicals are highly reactive and unstable substances formed as an intermediate or result of biochemical processes in our body. Simply put, they attack surrounding cells and "steal" electrons from their molecules. In doing so, they damage cell membranes and do great harm. In other words, they cause oxidative stress in our bodies.
In contrast, antioxidants are substances that eliminate free radicals. Their function is absolutely essential, because oxidative stress results in accelerating the age ofoxidative aging, damaging the DNA structure and increasing the risk of serious diseases. Vitamin E is one of the most powerful antioxidants. This is particularly true of its tocopherol isomers (alpha-tocopherol, beta-tocopherol, gamma-tocopherol and delta-tocopherol).
It helps as a prevention against heart disease
According to a 2019 meta-analysis, vitamin E supplementation helps fight heart disease. Specifically, there was a decrease in systolic blood pressure in the group of people taking vitamin E supplements. In addition, some studies suggest that when combined with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E may help with LDL (bad) cholesterol reduction.
Supports fertility, proper development of unborn children and hormonal balance
Vitamin E positively influences sexual performance and stimulates the production of sex cells. It is also crucial for proper fetal development, so it is especially recommended for pregnant women. The word tocopherol even comes from the Greek words meaning fetus and bear (tokos and pherein). At the same time, the benefits of vitamin E in preventing premenstrual periods are important for women.premenstrual syndrome, which involves mood swings, irritability, depression and the like. Related to this is vitamin E's ability to regulate hormone levels in the body.
Other health benefits of vitamin E
Other benefits of vitamin E include the promotion of healthy skin as it helps to strengthen capillary walls. It also reduces the signs of aging, which is related to its antioxidant effects. Vitamin E is also known for its ability to protect against a number of vision disorders. The elderly may benefit from adequate vitamin E intake, particularly bydue to its support of cognitive function, which is often compromised in older age. Athletes, on the other hand, will especially appreciate the benefits in the area of recovery, which is again related to its antioxidant effects.
What foods is vitamin E found in?
Among the best sources of vitamin E is wheat germ oil. It is also found in large quantities in sunflower seeds, almonds, hazelnuts, grains and other seeds. peanut butter, spinach, broccoli, kiwi and mango. Vitamin E can also be found in meat and dairy products in certain amountsbut to ensure sufficient intake it is advisable to think mainly of the foods mentioned above. Persons with dietary restrictions are understandably more prone to deficiencies of this vitamin, as well as to deficiencies of many other substances. In this case, it is natural to consider supplementing vitamin E with dietary supplements.
How much vitamin E should a person take per day?
Information on the recommended daily allowance of vitamin E may vary slightly from different sources. While in the past, the amount of 10 mg was discussed, currently experts agree on a dose of 15 mg without differentiating between men and women. The Czech legal regulation, in line with EU legislation, indicates 12 mg as the recommended daily dose of vitamin E and also does not differentiate further between the needs of women and men. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are nevertheless recommended to increase their daily vitamin E intake to around 19 mg.
When people talk about the amount of vitamin E in grams, they are of course referring to alpha-tocopherol. Converted to IU (international unit), this would be just under 18 IU.
Manifestations of vitamin E deficiency
Due to the vitamin E content of the normal diet, vitamin E deficiency is relatively rare, but it can occur. People who suffer from health problems that make it difficult for them to absorb vitamins are particularly at risk. People suffering from malnutrition are also often deficient in vitamin E. The most common symptoms include weakness, fatigue, muscle pain, impaired immunity or motor problems.
Does it make sense to supplement vitamin E?
Vitamin E supplementation is quite complicated. Most people take enough of it in their normal diet. Therefore, the need to supplement it with supplements is not very high, on the contrary, dietary supplements with vitamin E can cause considerable problems if used incorrectly. But this does not mean that such products have no use. People suffering from vitamin E deficiency must of course supplement it in some way. But it is true that this only applies to a small proportion of the population. What about athletes, for example? In general, strength athletes have much higher demands on their bodies, and thoseand therefore need to take in more minerals and vitamins than is normal for the rest of the population. Studies on this topic are often quite contradictory, and we cannot yet determine with certainty whether vitamin E supplementation actually has any significant effect on athletes However, it can be assumed that endurance athletes in particular may benefit from the antioxidant effect that vitamin E offers. It is advisable to consult a doctor before taking vitamin E supplements.
Is it possible to overdose on vitamin E? How to take it correctly?
Vitamin E belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins. This means that our body stores it in fat tissue and does not excrete it in the urine like water-soluble vitamins. For this reason, it is indeed possible to overdose on it. However, if you only take vitamin E from your regular diet, overdosing is not something to worry about. Something like this is more of a concern if you are supplementing with vitamin E. 1,000 mg of alpha-tocopherol is given as the upper limit of daily intake that should not be exceeded.
When taking vitamin E supplements, you need to read the manufacturer's instructions carefully. These products are often taken daily or every other day. Taking excessively high doses can result in vitamin K deficiency, which is antagonistic to vitamin E - one reduces the absorption and bioavailability of the other.
If you are unsure of your vitamin E dosage or have any questions, feel free to contact us in the comments.
