How many tablets to dose:
Ideal use of NexGen Pro consists of three tablets, and you should take one with each largem meal - ideally with breakfast, lunch and dinner so that the active ingredients always have enough time to be absorbed.
Final assessment:
In my opinion, NexGen Pro is the best supplement you can invest in as an athlete if you don't want to buy any other supplements. I have been taking it for the second year now and since then I have noticed better digestion as well as improved immune system functioning.
On the other hand, I understand that it is quite expensive for many recreational athletes, as a daily dose will set you back . Still, I think it's always important to invest in good quality multivitamins and multiminerals and it's worth the extra money at the expense of amino acids or another not so effective supplement.
The second place in our ranking belongs to a relatively new product from Prom-IN, namely Vita Solution.
This supplement deserves a very positive evaluation not only due to the omission of the oppositely actingminerals, but by the overall packed composition, which hardly finds competition. Well, when you add to all this the low price, one of the most effective multivitamin supplements is in the world.
Benefits:
- Increased content of B vitamins, which are very important for athletes
- Does not contain oppositely acting minerals
- Highly usable ingredients
- Really good value for money
Disadvantages:
- Need to purchase additional supplements (especially magnesium and zinc)
- One dose costs 13 crowns
Who makes it:
Vita Solution is manufactured by Prom-IN, a seasoned company that has been on the Czech market since 1976. Their products have undergone many reforms to suit all athletes and contain no unnecessary or ineffective substances.
Combined with an absolutely excellent price, you get supplements that regularly rank at the top of not only our rankings.
The most important active ingredients in one tablet:
- High content of vitamins en. High vitaminB content, which are among the most important micronutrients for athletes
- 172mg of vitamin E, which is one of the most important antioxidants protecting the body against free radicals.
- 75μg of vitamin K2MK7, which lowers cholesterol levels, participates in cell growth and ensures proper blood clotting
- 150μg of iodine, which is an indispensable component of thyroid hormones
More of the active ingredients represented in Vita Solution can be found again in our detailed review.
How many tablets to dose:
The manufacturer recommends taking 2 tablets per day, ideally with meals in the morning and evening. To ensure maximum absorption of the active ingredients, it is important to always take the tablets with sufficient water.
Final assessment:
Vita Solution is a really good product that every athlete will appreciate. Even though it is considerably cheaper than NexGen Pro (a daily dose costs about )), you also have to buy magnesium and zinc, which are among the most important minerals ever. Ultimately, you end up with roughly the same price.
If you want to take vitamins and minerals to perfection, this product is definitely the right one for you.
The third place in our ranking belongs to the product SuperVita Pro from the well-known company Czech Virus.
Here you will find 46 active ingredients, the best-used minerals, a mixture of amino acids, natural extracts from fruits and vegetables and much more. Unlike most competing products, SuperVita Pro is not in tablets containing binders, but is liquid.
Benefits:
- 46 active ingredients
- High quality raw materials
- Great taste
- Enough for more than a month of use
Disadvantages:
- Contains preservatives that may be harmful
- Some ingredients could be more concentrated
Who makes it:
SuperVita Pro Multivitamin is manufactured by Czech Virus, a company well known to all, made famous primarily by controversial bodybuilder Filip Grznár and his former sparring partner Pavel Beran. Since 2012, when the first idea was born in the minds of the creators, the company has been based on quality products without unnecessary chemistry.
Among the sponsored athletes, besides Filip and Pavel, there are also Aleš Bursa and Jiří Tkadlčík. All raw materials used by Czech Virus in the production of its products originate in the EU.
The most important active ingredients in 15 ml:
- 11μg of vitamin K2MK7, which lowers cholesterol levels, participates in cell growth and ensures proper blood clotting
- Copper, zinc, manganese, magnesium, calcium and chromium in chelate bonds, which are the most useful for humans
- A spectrum of B vitamins that are responsible for the proper digestion of carbohydrates, proteins and fats
- 25mg of inositol, which is responsible for a healthy liver and improved brain function
For a more detailed description of the active ingredients contained in Supervita, please see our catalogue.
How to dose SuperVita Pro:
The manufacturer recommends taking 15ml per day, ideally in two doses - 7.5ml in the morning and 7.5ml in the evening. Always shake before use. Store in a cool place and refrigerate once opened.
Final assessment:
SuperVita Pro is a great supplement that is revolutionary precisely because of its liquid form. Although some people believe that micronutrients are not as stable due to the liquid form and lose effectiveness over time, this has never been confirmed.
The only problem is the necessity of using preservatives that can hide health negatives. You will find a really wide range of active ingredients in it and a daily dose will cost you , which is not bad at all.
Fourth place in our ranking belongs to another product from Reflex. This time it is the "ordinary" version, which is much cheaper, but still very high quality.
You will still find vitamin K2 in the most bioavailable form, chelated minerals and probiotics for gut health. While NexGen Pro was more suitable for professional and hard training athletes, the classic NexGen is suitable for recreational athletes due to its great value for money.
Benefits:
- Supercharged formula and really good usability
- Great value for money
- Minimal binders and additives
- Sparingly encapsulated capsule prevents degradation of active ingredients
Disadvantages:
- Compared to the PRO version, the formulation is significantly lagging behind
- Contains oppositely acting ingredients
Who makes it:
The maker of the popular Nexgen is Reflex Nutrition, which has been on the market since 1996. From the very beginning, they have built all of their supplements on quality first. Their supplements undergo independent testing for banned substances and the actual protein content of each batch.
All of the company's manufacturing technologies and pharmaceutical facilities are of the highest standard and therefore can be it is no exaggeration to say that Reflex Nutrition is the absolute top among sports nutrition manufacturers.
The most important active ingredients in one tablet:
- 25μg of vitamin D3, which is important for healthy bones, improves the immune system and regulates the growth of cancer cells
- 11μg of vitamin K2MK7, which lowers cholesterol levels, participates in cell growth and ensures proper blood clotting
- Copper, zinc, manganese, selenium and chromium in chelate bonds that are most useful to humans
- 100 million probiotic bacteria lactospores, which serve to improve the intestinal microflora
For a more detailed breakdown of Nexgen's active ingredients, please see our catalogue.
How many tablets to dose:
The recommended dosage is to take one tablet twice daily. Again, taking with or immediately after a meal is ideal for maximum benefit. A daily serving is equivalent to two tablets, so the pack will last for thirty days.
Take with sufficient water each time.
Final evaluation:
NexGen is undoubtedly one of the best multivitamins on the market, but it is important to note that it lags behind its PRO version quite a bit.
So, as we mentioned above, while professional athletes will find the enhanced version useful, we would recommend this supplement for sleeping We would recommend this supplement to recreational athletes only because of its relatively affordable price, which corresponds to about per daily dose.
Animal Pak is a now iconic multivitamin that was especially popular in the days before Nexgen.
The great advantage is the division of the active ingredients into 11 different tablets, in which you will find a total of 55 active ingredients. These are not only vitamins, minerals and amino acids, but also various enzymes and other active substances.
Benefits:
- Practical division of daily doses into sachets
- 55 active ingredients
- Contains high levels of active ingredients
Disadvantages:
- Requires swallowing 11 tablets per day
- High price
- Manufacturer does not state the links between minerals
Who makes it:
Animal Pak is made by Universal Nutrition, which has been one of the world's leading supplement manufacturers since 1977.
They strive to target a wide range of customers and provide them with premium quality products. Thanks to its extensive warehouses in the Netherlands, it has been available in Europe since 2000, where it has become increasingly popular.
The most important active ingredients in one bag:
- A spectrum of B vitamins, which are responsible for the proper digestion of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
- 250 mg of inositol, which is responsible for a healthy liver and improved brain function
- 64 mg of pepsin, which is responsible for protein digestion
- 500mg of shark cartilage, which is important for healthy joints
For more ingredients of Animal Pak, please see our catalogue in detail.
How to take Animal Pak:
Animal Pak is designed so that the recommended daily dose is contained in one sachet. We therefore recommend that you stick to this method of use and take the tablets from one sachet after a meal with plenty of water.
Final assessment:
Although the popularity of Animal Pak is gradually declining, it is still a supplement that has a lot to offer and is really high quality and functional. However, a minor drawback is the necessity of swallowing 11 different tablets, which can befor some users, and also the price, which is per dose.
Edit 10.1.2020 - We have now published a separate review on the Animal Pak multivitamin.
The sixth place in our ranking belongs to the not very well knownMultikomplex from YPSI, which provides premium nutritional supplements to the German market.
In this supplement you will find 32 active ingredients represented in the best usable forms. It is also worth mentioning the content of substances that you will not find in any other multivitamins - chlorella vulgaris, L-methionine, N-acetyl-cysteine or extracts of pineapple and garlic.
Benefits:
- High quality ingredients
- High quantity of active ingredients
- High quality of the ingredients High quality of the ingredients High quality of the ingredients High quality of the ingredients High quality of the ingredients High quality of the ingredients High quality of the ingredients
- Contains no fillers or nonsense additives
- Suitable for vegetarians and vegans (the capsule is not made of beef gelatin)
Disadvantages:
- Extremely high price per pack
- Some of the key ingredients need to be purchased separately (Vit. D, K,...)
Who makes it:
Multikomplex is produced by the not so well known, but maximum quality and proven company YPSI (Your Personal Strenght Institute), which has been on the German market since 2008. In that time, it has come up with a lot of unconventional but extremely effective supplements such as Electrolyte Complex, Kalium Magnesium Complex and others.
The most important active ingredients in one tablet:
- 10.3mg of magnesium bisglycinate, which contributes to normalIt contributes to normal carbohydrate and protein metabolism, reduces fatigue and prevents overtraining.
- 50 ug of selenomethionine, which is the most absorbable organic form of selenium on the market. Selenium helps modulate the immune system and is also an important heavy metal antagonist.
- 20mg of garlic extract, which can lower cholesterol and is antibacterial, antiviral and antimicrobial.
- Full spectrum of B vitamins that improve macronutrient digestion
- 60mg of vitamin C, which is an important substance that supports the proper functioning of the immune system.
How many tablets to dose:
The daily dose of Multikomplex is just one tablet to cover everything you need. As with all other minerals, it is good to take with food. Take each capsule with sufficient water.
Final assessment:
When I took MultiKomplex, I was very impressed. The ingredients are really good, the price-performance comparison is more than satisfactory and the workYou don't have to buy a new supplement every month, but it lasts for half a year. On the other hand, because of the natural extracts, the capsules are very strongly aromatic, which may be a problem for some.
In addition, some of the key ingredients are missing or are only present to a lesser extent than needed, so you have to buy them. However, if you are looking for an alternative to popular and well-known supplements, you can definitely give Multikomplex a try, because at a price of per daily dose it is definitely worth it.
Seventh place in our ranking belongs to the combination of a multivitamin and a multimineral from Nutrend, which as one of myhas a split dosage of vitamins and minerals, which is ideal in terms of absorption.
Benefits:
- The pack lasts for two months
- Separate dosage of vitamins and minerals
- Relatively good price per dose
Disadvantages:
- Compared to competitors, it has lower amounts of active ingredients
Who makes it:
Nutrend is one of the largest Czech manufacturers of supplements and sports nutrition. It is also a proud sponsor of Czech Olympians - Martina Sáblíková, Jaromír Jágr and others.
Unlike most companies , it does not specialize only in bodybuilding and strength sports, but also in endurance sports. Just from the size and popularity of this company, it can be concluded that it produces supplements of first-class quality.
The most important active ingredients in one tablet:
- A spectrum of B vitamins that are responsible for the proper digestion of carbohydrates, proteins and fats
- 290mg of vitamin C, an important antioxidant responsible for the normal functioning of the immune system
- 10mcg of vitamin D, which is important for strong and healthy bones
- 150mg of magnesium, which affects over 400 chemical reactions in the body and is one of the most important minerals for athletes.
For a more detailed description of the active ingredients in Compressed Multivitamin and Compressed Multimineral, please see our catalogue.
How many tablets to dose:
Since these are two supplements that complement each other, their use should be separate. The ideal time to take the vitamins is in the morning with a meal, and I recommend taking the minerals before bed and preferably at bedtime.
Final assessment:
I can definitely recommend the complex of these two supplements, because the separate use ofThe separate use of vitamins and minerals is essential for maximum benefit.
In addition, Compressed has a relatively good price, specifically for one daily dose of both supplements you pay .
Edit 11.3. 2020 - We have now published a separate review on the Nutrend multivitamin.
The next place was taken by a product with a very simple and concise name. Vilgain Multivitamin combines a total of 20 active ingredients (13 vitamins and 7 minerals), which is not the most, but it is certainly not too little. All vitamins are contained in quite sufficient quantities and in ideal forms, which guarantees the quality of the product as such.
Benefits:
- The packet lasts for two months
- Contains all vitamins in sufficient quantities
- Easy dosage
Disadvantages:
- Higher price
Who makes it:
The Vilgain brand won the hearts of many athletes back when its products were called Actin. However, this company, which originated in Brno, has decided to undergo a rebranding due to foreign expansion. Although a different name now dominates the packaging of its products, the quality of all supplements has remained the same.
The most important active ingredients in two casps:
- B-complex, which plays an absolutely crucial role in metabolism
- 110 mg of vitamin C, which no multivitamin could do without, as it is one of the most important vitamins ever
- 18.75 μg of vitamin D3, which is particularly important during the winter months
- 300 mg of magnesium bisglycinate, which influences countless chemical reactions in the body
- 10 mg of zinc bisglycinate, one of the most deficient trace elements in the human body
For a more detailed description of the active ingredients contained in Vilgain Multivitamin, please refer to our catalogue.
How many tablets to dose:
The manufacturer recommends taking two capsules per day. I would definitely stick to this recommendation, as two capsules contain all the vitaminsvitamins in ideal amounts and will help you take the recommended daily dose without any problem. If you took more than one tablet, your body would not be able to use the higher dose of vitamins anyway.
Final assessment:
One daily dose of Vilgain Multivitamin will not cost you very cheaply, which is the main disadvantage of this multivitamin. It simply costs a bit more compared to the competition without compensating the higher price with anything extra. In terms of active ingredient content, it's also not the worst, but many previousproducts contain a wider range of minerals and other added substances. So it is a very good quality product, but I can't say that there aren't some better options. If you are a fan of the Vilgain brand or for some reason want to try this product, I have no doubt you will be pleased with the effect.
In our ranking of the best multivitamin supplements must not Vita-Min Inject from Big Zone, whose popularity has been growing radically lately.
And no wonder, because this supplement is a clear proof of that. It combines 16 active ingredients, which are really high quality.
Benefits:
- Contains all the ingredients a hard-training athlete needs
- One pack lasts for 3 months
- Good value for money
Disadvantages:
- Multivitamin contains calcium, which is not completely necessary
- Compared to competitors, it has fewer active ingredients
Who makes it:
Big Zone is a popular German manufacturer of premium quality supplements. In the repertoire of this company you will find a plethora of supplements that are united by high quality, absolute purity and last but not least, of course, functionality. Every product of the company is tested before it is launched on the market and only after it is releaseda quality certificate is issued, production can begin.
But it doesn't stop there, the manufacturer also tests individual batches of products so that the customer is always sure to find exactly what the packaging declares. So if you're looking for supplements that you can rely on 100%, BigZone is the one.
The most important active ingredients in one tablet:
- 400mg of vitamin C, which is essential for the proper functioning of the immune system and musculoskeletal health.
- A spectrum of B vitamins that are very useful for digestion of nutrients, and thus are important cofactors in the process of energy production
- 150mcg of copper, which is an absolutely essential element for the proper functioning of the heart, muscles and immune system.
- 20mcg of selenium, which helps stabilize thyroid hormone levels.
For a more detailed description of the active ingredients contained in Vita-Min Inject , please refer to our catalogue.
How many tablets to dose:
Although the manufacturer recommends taking 2 tablets twice a day, we find it sufficientIt is sufficient to take two tablets only once a day, as the formula is quite concentrated. These tablets should be taken with food and water.
Final assessment:
For two capsules of Vita-Min Inject you pay , which in my opinion is a very pleasant price, which is offered by perhaps few competing supplements. If you decide to take 4 capsules, the price doubles, but that still works out quite well.
So this is a supplement that works out very well in terms of value for money, plus it contains key ingredients for any athlete. The disadvantage, then, is mainly that it does not contain such a large amount of active ingredients compared to other products.
Edit 26.1.2020 - We have now published a separate review on the Vita-min Inject multivitamin.
The ninth place in our ranking was taken by V52 Vita Complex Forte from Extrifit.
This supplement is packed with active ingredients, provides a really good price-quality ratio and is rich in various adaptogens and enzymes in addition to vitamins and minerals.
Benefits:
- Two months' worth of supplements
- Contains high quality ingredients
- Relatively good price
- 52 active ingredients
Disadvantages:
- Some ingredients are "unnecessary" in the product and some are only contained in minimal amounts
- Some of the ingredients in the product are harder to use (calcium carbonate, magnesium oxide, etc.)
Who makes it:
Extrifit has been on the market since 2007 and in that time has grown to become the leading sports nutrition manufacturer in the Czech Republic. All the supplements offered are specifically tailored for all strength athletes and bodybuilders. All the supplements are tested by sponsored athletes - the absolute top of the sport -before they are launched.Vojtěch Koritenský, Tomáš Kašpar, Vlastimil Kužel and others.
The most important active ingredients in one tablet:
- 25mg of rutin, which maintains capillary elasticity and removes free radicals from the body.
- 35mg of inositol, which is responsible for a healthy liver and improved brain function
- 180mg of vitamin C, which is an important antioxidant responsible for normal functioning of the immune system
- A spectrum of B vitamins that are responsible for proper digestion of carbohydrates, proteins and fats
- 10mg of L-carnitine, which plays an important role in converting stored fat into energy
For a more detailed description of the active ingredients contained in V 52, please refer to our catalogue.
How many tablets to dose:
The manufacturer recommends taking one tablet per day, ideally again with food.
Final assessment:
V52 Vita Complex Forte is a relatively good supplement from my own experience, but the overall impression is spoiled by some of the harder to use ingredients. Some of the active ingredients seem as if they only serve to increase the total amount of active ingredients, which is then reflected in the name of the supplement.
Otherwise, however, V52 is absolutely fine, a daily dose comes out to and many other users have positive reviews about it.
Edit 14.2.2020 - We have now published a more detailed review on the Extrifit V52 Vita Complex Forte multivitamin.
The tenth place in our ranking belongs to the Multi Mega Sport Stack supplement from Amix.
It provides its users with a good price-quality ratio and thanks to the content of 40 active ingredients it takes care of supplementation the most important micronutrients for hard-training athletes and people with a high mental load.
Benefits:
- Good value for money
- 40 active ingredients
- Contains all important substances for athletes
Disadvantages:
- Contains a relatively large number of added substances
- Some of the vitamins are represented in the form of oxides

How many tablets to dose:
In the case of Multi Mega Sport Stack , it is sufficient to take one tablet per day. As with other multivitamins, the ideal dosage is after meals. It is recommended to take it with sufficient water each time.
Final assessment:
As is usual with Amix products, in addition to the balanced content of the active ingredients, the Amix products also contain unnecessary additives that spoil the overall impression of the products.
Even so, it is a very solid product with a great price/quality ratio. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an affordable multivitamin that lasts for several months and not spend his entire paycheck on it, because a daily dose costs only .
Eleventh place in our ranking belongs to the popular multivitamin Fair Power from the company Survival.
It should be noted here that this supplement contains less than half the active ingredients of competing productsm, but these are the substances that are the most important and at the same time quite deficient for athletes.
Therefore, if we evaluate purely the price-quality ratio, Multivitamin Fair Power comes out very well and definitely has its place in our ranking. However, if you are looking for the most effective substances concentrated in one capsule, it probably won't satisfy your needs.
Pros:
- Really great price
- Contains only the most important ingredients
- Enough for two months
Disadvantages:
- Enzymes contained may cause stomach problems for some users
- Contains only 17 active ingredients
Who makes it:
Survival Nutrition Supplements is a sports supplement brand that has been on the market since 2002. They stand out above the competition because of their complete transparency and openness, as one of theThe company is one of the few companies that does not only disclose the exact ingredients, but also the ratio of key substances.

The manufacturer recommends a dosage of 1 capsule per day. It is ideal to take 1 capsule with or immediately after a meal for maximum benefit. Always take with sufficient water.
Final Evaluation:
Fair Power Multivitamin by Survival is a good supplement at an even better price.
While its low price may seem suspicious, the ingredients are really good and if you are, for example, a student whowho can't afford to invest too much money in supplements, Fair Power is the right supplement for you. You will pay only for a daily dose.

- A spectrum of B vitamins that are responsible for proper digestion of carbohydrates, proteins and fats

You can find more active ingredients found in Multi HD in our catalogue.
What is the recommended dosage:
The manufacturer recommends a dosage of 1 capsule per day. It is ideal to take 1 capsule with or immediately after a meal for maximum benefit. Always wash down with plenty of water.
Final Evaluation:
Multi HD is a good multivitamin that unfortunately contains significantly less potent compared to its competitors Some ofthem are really "ridiculous" - for example, 30 mg of vitamin C is very little.
If we take into account the price(less than per daily dose), which is comparable with the better supplements of today's comparison, it is definitely worth it rather those.

Final Evaluation:
One-A-Day is a relatively inexpensive multivitamin supplement that can be used especially by people on a budget. As with Multi HD, there are substances that are represented only "by eye", as their actual content is really insufficient.
However, it can be said that it contains the most important things that a proper multivitamin should contain.l, moreover, for per daily dose, but you definitely can't expect any miracles from it.

Multivitamin test
Our tests and reviews are not just randomly compiled multivitamins that we try to recommend for profit. We've tested all of the items in our rankings and thoroughly looked at the criteria that are important to each consumer:
- Ingredients
- usability
- solubility,
- taste
- value for money,...
At the end of this process, there is a completely objective ranking that should really help you make your decision. We are not a supplement manufacturer that only tries to promote our brand and we are not sponsored by anyone, so we can afford complete objectivity.
So which multivitamin is the best and why?
It is impossible to choose just one multivitamin from all multivitamin supplements and say that it is the best quality. Each of them has something to offer. For example, both variants of NexGen are high quality in my opinion and you can't get anything better. It's just that they contain opposing ingredients that are negative in terms of overall usability.
This problem has been solved by Vita Solution, but if you buy all the oppositely acting ingredients, the price goes extremely high.
From my own personal experience, I would recommend choosing between the first three rungs of ourour rankings because these products are truly the best quality you can get on the market.
The main benefits of multivitamin supplements
You must have read our articles and rankings a few timesthat a quality multivitamin is the most important supplement. So let's briefly introduce some of its positive effects on performance and athlete's health:
Improve brain function
There are dozens of different findings and studies looking at the effect of multivitamin supplements on brain functioning. The most interesting ones have found that there is a link between vitamin or mineral deficiencies and depression (for example, zinc is an important component according to some studies ). It is also widely known that these supplements improve memory in adult individuals.
They support immunity
From my own experience and that of my friends, I can say with certainty thatthat multivitamin supplements contribute to the overall functioning of the immune system. Among other things, vitamin C, which is one of the most important antioxidants of all, plays an important role.
They improve food digestion
This benefit can be somewhat misleading and therefore needs to be elaborated more. I am referring to the B vitamins, which are absolutely essential for the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. One very important one is vitamin B6, which is involved in the metabolism of amino acids.
Therefore, with increased protein intake, the need for vitamin B6 logically increases. And since with a higher intake of this vitamin, the complex biochemicalthe body's production of enzymes that break down amino acids, the digestion of food will also improve.
Healthy eyes
The final benefit we will note here is the ability of multivitamin supplements to maintain healthy eyes. This is due to the beta content, which protects the eyes from harmful sunlight and removes free radicals.
Other benefits of these supplements include improving sleep, eliminating cramps, better recovery and much more.
Can vitamins and minerals be obtained from a normal diet?
Of course you can. In some cases, it is even much better than drawing them from dietary supplements. The problem, however, may be athletes who, due to their increased demandsto certain micronutrients , they can't get everything they need from their regular diet.
A second, and equally important, factor is that crops lose their potentas the soil has to be much more productive than before. Not to mention the fact that, thanks to the use of chemical preparations, there is quite a lot of speculation about the impact on health.
Of course, this is not to say that it is a good idea to avoid eating fruit and vegetables, but I do advocatethat a quality multivitamin supplement can be particularly useful these days.
For whom are multivitamins intended
I'm sure you'll agree with me that most supplements don't bring any great benefits to non-sporting people. But multivitamins are suitable for everyone - for men, for women, for seniors... in short, for everyone. But for some groups of people they should be almost indispensable. And these are the ones we will look at in this article.
For athletes
Athletes need multivitamins, especially because they need to take a multivitamin when they play sports. significantly more micronutrients leave the body than they can take in from their diet.
A deficiency of certain vitamins or minerals will result in increased recovery requirements, fatigue, drowsiness and poorer training performance. And this is the very reason why we very often recommend investing in multivitamins and not, for example, in BCAAs.
For seniors
For seniors, these supplements are not strictly necessary, but they can be very useful. This is due to the fact that as we age, the use of certain substances deteriorates (e.g.cobalamin, for example) and increased intake of some substances is needed (here it is mainly vitamin D3).
For vegetarians and vegans
Another group of people who should definitely not neglect supplementation with good quality vitamins and minerals are also Vegans and vegetarians, for whom supplementing with some substances from plant sources may be almost impossible. If you would prefer not to take any of these supplements, you should know that today there are also a number of products tailor-made for vegetarians or vegans. A typical example is Veganus (review), which, among other things, also won our entire comparison of the best multivitamins for vegans.
For overweight people
According to some sources, a higher than optimal body weight can increase the intake requirements of certain nutrients. It is therefore advisable to supplement with one of the multivitamin supplements. However, if you are also taking any medications, it is a good idea to consult your doctor about supplementation.
For people with an unbalanced diet
If you have a balanced and varied diet, you are theoretically able to take in all the nutrients you need from your diet. However, few people have this nowadays and when you add to this the frequent consumption of certain foodsprocessed foods, it's definitely a good idea to supplement the missing vitamins and minerals from your diet.
Who are multivitamins not for?
On the other hand, it must be said quite frankly that multivitamins are not for everyone. While people with a varied and balanced diet don't need complex multivitamins, for some people they may theoretically be completely inappropriate.
Smokers and ex-smokers
Because some components of complex multivitamins, such as beta carotene or vitamin A, may increase the risk of lung cancer in higher doses, according to some sources. If this is the case, it may be better to look for supplements without these ingredients or to consult a doctor.
Pregnant women
Another group that should be wary of taking large amounts of vitaminsA are pregnant women who may be at higher risk of defects in their newborn if they take too much of this substance. Again, we would recommend discussing the use of specific supplements with your doctor.
Even assuming you do not fall into any of these groups, you should keep in mind that multivitaminsIt is possible to overdose on a multivitamin, which we have discussed in more detail in our separate article.
What is the ideal dosage of these products?
In general, a simple rule applies when taking vitamins. Hydrophilic vitamins, i.e. water-soluble, should be taken before meals (e.g.For example, fasting in the morning), whereas lipophilic (fat-soluble) vitamins should be taken after meals.
However, if you are using a multivitamin supplement containing vitamins from both groups, taking it after meals is a much better choice. The hydrophilic vitamins will be used anyway, whereas the lipophilic vitamins would not be used without the presence of fat and would pass through the digestive tract unabsorbed.
Should pregnant women increase the dosage?
Although there are some substances that are very important in pregnancy (i.e.d, folic acid, vitamins C, D, B and others), there is no simple answer to this question. It can be a very individual matter and whether or not it is a good idea to should be decided by your doctor rather than anyone else.
Do multivitamins have any side effects?
To answer this question, it is important to know the amount of each nutrient intake. If you adhere to the dosage set by the supplement manufacturer, you do not have to worry about any negative effects.
However, if you create your own dosage and some of the ingredients are in extreme excess, side effects can of course occur. The most common will be nausea, but with long-term excessive use, more serious health complications can occur.
