Pros:

- Pleasant price

The raw materials used in the production of this bar are really high quality. The base of the bar consists of vegetable fibre, whey protein and a large amount ofnuts (the specific type varies depending on the flavour of the bar). This mixture is further enriched with glycerin, which acts as a humectant, sunflower lecithin and sucralose.
Who makes it:
These protein bars are made by the well-known company Czech Virus, made famous by the controversial bodybuilder Filip Grznár and his former sparring partner Pavel Beran. Among the sponsored athletes, besides Filip and Pavel, there are also Aleš Bursa and Jiří Tkadlčík. All raw materials used by Czech Virus in the production of its products originate in the EU.
This exceptional bar deserves the second place rightfully. The ingredients used are of high quality, the price is appropriate and the taste experience, especially in the case of Coconella, is absolutely amazing.
As I also mentioned in a separate review, compared to other bars, they are not as stiff, but their consistency is beautifully soft. The downside, however, is the very small packaging, so if you're thinking of buying some, definitely get more.
Are you looking for a protein bar that will have great nutritional values and at the same time will taste absolutely fabulous? You can stop looking, because ONE Bar is just such a bar.

Other ingredients vary depending on the flavour chosen.
Who makes it:
ONE Bar is made by the popular company Oh Yeah! Nutrition, which is a subsidiary of ISS Research. This manufacturer focuses solely on protein bars, but it really shows in the results! The very first product was the Oh Yeah! Protein Bar 85g, which became a worldwide bestseller. Other, equally successful products followed. One of them is One Bar 60g, which is undoubtedly one of the tastiest and best protein bars in its category.
If taste was the only important aspect, I wouldn't give it a second thought and place ONE Bar in 1st place. But unfortunately it is not. This bar is very tasty, I have tried several flavours and each time I was impressed, on the other hand it contains quite a lot of additives, including palm oil. And that, for a bar you pay less than for, spoils the overall impression.
Still, I can only recommend it if you are looking for a tasty rescue during a strict diet.
Edit 6.6.2019 - We have just published a detailed review for the One Bar, you can read it here.

The next place in our ranking belongs to a protein bar from the brandVilgain, which is currently one of the most popular protein bars ever. And honestly, it's no wonder. The protein source here is milk protein, which, depending on the flavour, accounts for about 26-31% of the composition. In terms of nutritional value, the flavour Bichocolate/almond, which contains the least carbohydrate and the most fibre. The big advantage is that there are no controversial additives in the ingredients. In addition to the aforementioned milk protein, there is also corn fibre in the ingredients.corn fibre, almonds, white chocolate coating, erythritol sweetener, coconut, chicory fibre, glycerol and cocoa butter.
Who makes it:
Not long ago, you might have come across Vilgain products under the brand name Actin. This is the company behind the Vilgain brand. The reason for the name change was to expand abroad, but otherwise the products of this manufacturer have not changed at all. Aktin as such perhaps does not even need to be introduced to anyone. Currently, it is one of the most popular manufacturers and sellers of sports nutrition in our country.
Vilgain bars are very popular, especially because of their great taste. As with most of its products, the manufacturer has relied mainly on subtle flavours that are not unnecessarily oversweetened or artificial. Clearly the most pleasant surprise was the flavour cinnamon roll, which tastes almost like Christmas candy. Nut lovers will also appreciate the nougat and hazelnut variant, in which the nuts are really very pronounced. The taste of all the bars is very natural, which is certainly not commonplace among competing manufacturers. You can read more in our separate review of the Vilgain Protein Bar.
If I had to fault the Vilgain Protein Bar, it would definitely be the price. In fact, compared to the competition, it is in a pretty high price range, which is simply a big disadvantage. But if you are looking for a great taste experience and a protein bar with a very hilarious formula, you will be happy with it.

Reflex Nutrition has been on the market since 1996, and from the very beginning, the company has built all of its supplements on quality first. Their supplements undergo independent testing for banned substances and actual protein content in every batch.
All of the company's manufacturing technologies and pharmaceutical facilities are of the highest standard and therefore can be it is no exaggeration to say that Reflex Nutrition is the absolute top among sports nutrition manufacturers.
R-Bar is characterized by a very pleasant consistency, which greatly influences the resulting taste. In our opinion, the most successful flavour was the combination of white chocolate and raspberry, which did not smellIt was not over-sweetened and also contained pieces of freeze-dried raspberries, which made it seem more natural. However, we have to praise the other variants as well, although we noticed a slightly stiffer consistency in some of them. Still, in this respect, R-Bar does very well compared to the competition. Thanks to its relatively high weight, it also fills you up quite a bit, which is a big plus. Read more in our separate review of Reflex Nutrition R-Bar.
The same applies to R-Bar Protein as it did to the previous EXXE bar.
In terms of occasional consumption for extra dieting, the R-Bar is great, but regular consumption would probably ruin you financially.
Edit 10.10.2019 - We just published a separate expert review on the R-Bar.

Even the vitamin content and high quality protein cannot compensate for the high carbohydrate content.and the presence of glucose syrup, which should not be present in a quality protein bar.

Personally, I think Barebells is the perfect bar for cheat days when you are taking in more calories but at the same time don't want to consume over-sweetened sweets from the supermarket.
However, due to the higher price and the palm oil and collagen hydrolysate content , I wouldn't recommend daily consumption too much.
Edit 4.01.2020 - We just published a separate review on Barebells protein bars.
The penultimate place in our ranking belongs to Deluxe Protein Bar, which is, like Barebells, very tasty, but nutritionally it has some minor flaws.
There are 6 great and balanced flavours to choose from , which look a bit unconventional but taste really great.

Nutrend is one of the largest Czech manufacturers of supplements and sports nutrition, which also one of the proud sponsors of Czech Olympians - Martina Sáblíková, Jaromír Jágra and others.
Unlike most companies, it does not specialize only in bodybuilding and strength sports, but also in endurance sports. Just from the size and popularity of this company, it can be concluded that it produces supplements of first-class quality.
Although the Deluxe Protein Bar tastes delicious, it doesn't differ much from the classic supermarket bars. It contains fructo-oligosaccharide syrup, palm fat and gelatine hydrolysate, which in my opinion is completely unacceptable in a quality bar.
On the other hand, there are people who can't get enough of Deluxe Protein Bar, so you can definitely try it and share your opinion in the comments. Personally, I would not recommend it.

The bar is also enriched with multivitamin premix, BCAA, l-glutamine, flavourings, thickeners, rapeseed lecithin and corn-potato extrudate.
Who makes it:
Nutrend is one of the largest Czech manufacturers of supplements and sports nutrition. It is also a proud sponsor of Czech Olympians - Martina Sáblíková, Jaromír Jágr and others.
Unlike most companies , it does not specialize only in bodybuilding and strength sports, but also in endurance sports. Just from the size and popularity of this company, it can be concluded that it produces supplements of first-class quality.
I think it's already starting to become apparent on this protein bar how thin the line is between qualitymi protein bars and low quality substitutes that are just trying to make money with the "Protein Bar" label.
Things like palm oil, glucose-fructose syrup, or corn-potato extrudatesshould have no placein a quality bar.
Protein bar test
Our reviews are not just randomly compiled protein bars that we try to recommend for profit. We've tested all of the items in our rankings and thoroughly looked at the criteria that are important to each consumer:
- Ingredients
- Protein source
- Method of production
- Solubility
- Taste and other...
At the end of this process, there is a completely objective ranking that should help you make your decision. We are not a supplement manufacturer that is just trying to promote our brand, nor are we sponsored by anyone, so we can afford complete objectivity.
What are protein bars for and who are they for?
High-quality protein bars are a healthy and convenient alternative to classic supermarket sweets, which are often full of simple sugars, unhealthy solid fats, colours and flavours. In any case, you don't have to be a top athlete to enjoy them. On the contrary, it could be said that absolutely anyone can enjoy them.
Can children eat protein bars?
They can. Protein bars do not contain anything that is harmful to children's health and growth in any way. On the contrary, if you compare, for example, Essential Pure Bar with a regular bar from the supermarket, you will find that its composition is a thousand times better.
Can I have protein bars for weight loss?
With protein bars for weight loss, it's not that simple. A very important criterion is the total amount of calories you should decide on. If you take in 1500 kcal from a meal, you will probably have room for a protein bar. Even so, I wouldn't overdo it with their consumption during weight loss diets.
Can pregnant women eat protein bars?
We don't have a completely clear answer to this question. Most sports nutrition products clearly state "Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women."But from a layman's point of view, it is a protein like any other. If you can't afford protein bars even when breastfeeding or pregnant, it's best to consult your doctor.
Aren't protein bars harmful?
Like all other food supplements , protein bars must pass strict EU controls. It is therefore almost impossible to find a harmful substance in them that has not been listed on the packaging. Of course, of those substances that are publicly available, there is no danger to you as they are a perfectly natural part of everyone's diet.
The only potential risk is palm oil, which I personally try to avoid, but there is no harm in consuming it occasionally.
When to eat protein bars?
Protein bars can be eaten at any time of the day, but are ideal as a snack on the go or when you can't eat your regular diet. It's not a good idea to eat them instead of lunch, as the main meal of the day should be slightly larger and consist of more protein, but for example for hot summer days when most of usit can be a nice change of pace.
Which sugar-free protein bars do we recommend?
If you're looking for the best sugar-free protein bar, we'd definitely recommend Zero Bar, which came in fourth place in our ranking. It contains only 0.1g of simple sugars. Personally, I think there is no reason to look for only low-carb bars, as all the more sweeteners and various flavourings must be used.
In my own experience, both taste-wise and nutritionally, the best bar is Essential Pure Bar, which tops the list. I use it really often and all the flavours are absolutely amazing in my opinion, as are the ingredients.
How are protein bars different from those from the supermarket?
Quality protein bars are always a better choice than commercial bars from the supermarket. Let's take a look at the most important differences in which protein bars win over the others:
- They contain fewer simple carbohydrates
- They are rich in fibre and protein
- Quality protein bars do not contain palm fat
- They are made with quality ingredients
- Contain no preservatives
But these benefits are only found in quality protein bars. There's no point in kidding yourself that the vast majority of these products are just unhealthy and overpricedthat marketers try to use the "protein bar" label to boost sales.
