Detailed analysis of the best smartwatches

1. Apple Watch SE 40mm

Apple Watch SE 40mm

The Apple Watch SE opens our ranking of the best smartwatches. You can see Apple Watches everywhere, and the SE (Special Edition) is one of the most popular. It combines the convenience of the latest models with an affordable price. This makes it an affordable and extremely useful watch that you'll get used to incredibly quickly. In addition to workouts, you'll also appreciate it during everyday activities thanks to its stylish design and you'll almost never have to take it off. Except when you need to charge it...

Benefits:

  • Stylish design
  • Countless useful features
  • Suitable for everyday wear
  • Perfect compatibility with other Apple products
  • Interchangeable straps

Disadvantages:

  • Does not work with Android operating system
  • Needs to be recharged daily

About the Manufacturer:
The tech giant Apple perhaps needs no introduction. This brand has managed to divide society to some extent, as one group of people can't stand it for the world, while the other hates it with all their hearts. Whatever your preference, there is no denying that Apple products are extremely popular and have fans all over the world. Their biggest advantage is their interconnectedness within their own ecosystem, thewhich makes working on multiple Apple devices incredibly easy. But there's a downside, too, because once you've entered the ecosystem, it's hard to get out.

Specifications:

  • Compatible with iOS
  • 18 hours of battery life
  • Waterproof to 50 meters
  • Aluminum case
  • Allows you to pay with Apple Pay
  • Voice control with Siri

If we were to list all the features (and more) of this watch, the entire list would get uncomfortably long. But the intuitive user interface, countless apps, the ability to pay with Apple Pay, receive calls and messages, and much more are definitely worth mentioning. In terms of monitoring your workouts, the Apple Watch SE lets you set a specific sport to do. This will make all the measured information much more accurate. In addition to the Activity app, the watch also works with the Health app, where you can find information about your sleep, for example. Of course, you can set daily goals and earn various badges for completing them, which can help you find the motivation you need for your workout. Likewise, you can share your results with friends and try to outdo each other.

Final evaluation:
The Apple Watch is one of the most popular smartwatches, so I think it's well known to most people. They work really well, and their connectivity with mobile and other devices is also a big advantage. In the case of the SE model, it really gets you a lot of fine-tuned features at an affordable price. Of course, there are cheaper watches out there, but probably none will offer you such a wide range of options to use them. It's a bit of an exaggeration to say that the Apple Watch is a scaled-down and somewhat limited version of the iPhone, as You can use it to look at photos, calculate on a calculator or reply to messages. Whether this is strictly necessary I leave to your judgment. But all of these features, in addition to the price, also translate into battery life, which I think is their biggest drawback. But if you don't mind charging your watch every night and you have an iPhone at home, the Apple Watch is a great choice for you.

2. Vilgain Hazelnut Cocoa Spread

Vilgain Hazelnut Cocoa Spread

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 was next. Like the Apple Watch, this model from Samsung targets only a certain group of customers, as it is compatible only with mobile phones running on the Android operating system. Thanks to its sleek design, you'll be able to wear it for training and then, for example, at work in the office. Moreover, they are a fairly affordable alternative to more expensive brands.

Pros:

  • Pleasant user experience
  • Comfortable strap
  • Suitable for exercise and all-day wear
  • Supports over 90 different sports
  • Clear display

Disadvantages:

  • Android compatible only
  • Needs to be charged every day/week

About the Manufacturer:
The word Samsung means "three stars" in Korean and symbolizes the three multinational corporations that form the basis of the Samsung Group. One of these "stars" is Samsung Electronics, one of the most important companies in the electronics and technology industry. In the mobile phone market, Samsung is the leading player, leaving Apple and other giants behind. It is therefore no surprise that smartwatches from this brand are also very popular.

Specifications:

  • Android compatible
  • 40 hours of battery life
  • Stainless steel case
  • Interchangeable strap
  • Ability to pay with Google Pay
  • Voice control via Google Assistant

Samsung's new smartwatch modelalso features a new operating system thatYou can download countless useful apps directly from Google Play. I have to evaluate very positively the control of the watch, which is served by a rotating lunette and a touch screen. The wide range of apps and functions such as BMI measurement, sleep quality and much more understandably have a negative impact on battery life. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will usually only last you a day on a charge, so you'll always have to think about charging it on time.

Overall assessment:
I have to rate the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 very positively. Although they have a big disadvantage in terms of battery life, in terms of available features, it is an extremely useful assistant and workout and beyond. Moreover, the sleek design allows you to wear them truly everywhere. And if you do find that they look too sporty in some situations, you can change the strap to suit your needs. Price-wise, they fall into the average range, which is a big plus considering the features offered.

3. Garmin Fenix 6 PRO

Garmin Fenix 6 PRO

In the ranking of the best sports watches, Garmin watches, specifically the Fenix 6 PRO, must not be missing in any way. Garmins are far from what we know from Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch. In fact, they are primarily focused on monitoring bodily functions and sports performance. While notifications from your phone will show up on them, definitely don't expect to make phone calls or reply to a message through them.

Benefits:

  • Precision craftsmanship
  • Professional solution for monitoring your entire workout
  • Suitable for any conditions
  • Extremely long battery life
  • Extremely long battery life

Disadvantages:

  • Higher price
  • Few features compared to Apple Watch/Galaxy Watch

About the Manufacturer:
Garmin manufactures GPS navigation and wearable electronics for industries such as automotive, aerospace, marine, as well as outdoor and fitness. All of its products are made to be as functional as possible in the first place. So don't expect any unnecessary embellishments and similar tinsel. Instead, Garmin will provide you with cutting-edge technology and reliable performance. That's why Garmin smartwatches are so popular among top athletes.

Specifications:

  • Compatible with both iOS and Android
  • Up to 48 days of battery life
  • Transflective display easy to read even in direct sunlight
  • Ability to download music to internal memory
  • Pay with Garmin Pay
  • Steel case

You don't buy a Garmin watch to use it to take messages, set reminders or answer calls. You buy it so you can best track your physical activity and record your movements. In this respect, Garmins are way ahead of their competitors. They are equipped with a large enough internal memory so that you will be able to use them without any problem even without an internet connection. With Bluetooth, you can connect them to wireless headphones and listen to your favorite music from anywhere. The durability is also a big advantage, so you don't have to worry about them breaking after the first bump.

Final review:
Garmin watches are definitely not for everyone. It doesn't have many of the features you'll find on the Apple Watch, for example. But when we're talking about just monitoring bodily functions, they're absolutely unbeatable. This is reflected in the price. Garmins are definitely not cheap watches, but if you buy one, you can be sure that you have invested in quality. A big advantage is the extremely long battery life, which of course depends on what functions you use on the watch. After weighing up all the pros and cons, the Fenix 6 PRO from Garmin cannot be more highly recommended for everyto anyone looking for a truly high-quality assistant even in the most demanding terrain.

4. Apple Watch Nike Series 7

Apple Watch Nike Series 7

We've had the Apple Watch here before, but the newest one has found its way into our rankings.model, which has a number of interesting features and practical advantages compared to the Special Edition. The Apple Watch Series 7 is even better and more practical than the SE model. For the best workout experience, we decided to choose the one created in collaboration with Nike instead of the classic model. Apple Watch Nike Series 7 is a first-class assistant both on and off the training.

Benefits:

  • Many new features compared to the previous model
  • Perfect connectivity with other Apple devices
  • Stylish design
  • Suitable for everyday wear
  • Larger display

Disadvantages:

  • Incompatible with Android
  • Needs to be charged every day

Specifications:

  • Compatible with iOS
  • 18 hours of battery life
  • Always on display
  • Waterproof to 50 meters
  • Durable front glass
  • Pay with Apple Pay

The Apple Watch Nike Series 7 brings you all the features of the SE model. But in addition, it also lets you measure your ECG or oxygen saturation. I consider the larger display (up to 20%) and the ability to leave it on all the time to be a big plus. Not to forget the Nike Run Club app, which will give you an even better overview of your mileage. Apple Watch Nike Series 7 is therefore an indispensable tool for training and throughout the day.

Final review:
We've already written a lot about Apple Watch in the description of the SE model. Series 7 brings a host of new features that are definitely worth checking out. But along with the new features comes a higher price tag, which is understandable. The battery life hasn't been extended since last time, and you still have to charge the Apple Watch every day. Despite this, I still think it's one of the best smartwatches you can get. It depends on your preference, of course, but if you're looking for a watch with the widest range of features, you'll find one that's up your alley.

5. Amazfit GTS 3

Amazfit GTS 3

If you have no experience with the Amazfit brand and specifically with its Amazfit GTS 3 watch, determineyou will notice at first glance that its design is strikingly reminiscent of the Apple Watch. Upon closer inspection, of course, the differences start to surface, and there are many. Nevertheless, this is a very interesting watch that definitely deserves our attention.

Advantages:

  • Minimalist and stylish design
  • Tempered glass protects the display
  • Very pleasant user interface
  • Perfect display resolution

Disadvantages:

  • No internal storage

About the Manufacturer:
The Amazfit brand is still a bit of a newcomer to the sports electronics market. It was founded in 2015 and has since introduced several lines of successful smartwatches. Amazfit's repertoire includes wireless headphones but also, for example, treadmills and smart scales.

Specifications:

  • Compatible with both iOS and Android
  • Up to 20 days of battery life
  • Aluminum case
  • Tempered glass protected display
  • Ability to use Alexa voice assistant
  • Waterproof up to 50 metres

Amazfit GTS has the classic list of features - player controle music, GPS, gyroscope, barometer, voice control, a choice of 150 sports activities and much more. But unfortunately, it won't allow you to make a phone call, for example, for which you'll still need a mobile phone. The user interface is very intuitive and in many ways reminiscent of the Apple Watch. The advantage is that this watch supports both iOS and Android.

Final review:
The Amazfit GTS 3 is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a stylish and understated smartwatch that they won't have to spend unnecessarily much money on. Design-wise, it's really hilarious and in terms of available features, it's also nothing but positive. Add in exceptional battery life and you have a reliable watch that you can wear to workout, work and basically anywhere.

6. Garmin Venu 2 Plus

Garmin Venu 2 Plus

We've already had one Garmin watch here, but it would be a shame to limit ourselves to it. The Garmin Venu 2 Plus is a sort of compromise between the purely sports-oriented Fenix 6 PRO and, for example, Amazfit or Apple Watch. That means they'll offer you detailed analysis of your every sporting performance, but they have a beautifully backlit display where you can see your favourite apps.

Pros:

  • Detailed monitoring of every movement
  • Very solid battery life
  • Affordable Garmin watch model
  • Lots of useful features

Disadvantages:

  • Limited ability to configure apps

Specifications:

  • Compatible with both iOS and Android
  • Up to 10 days of battery life
  • Combination of touchscreen and buttons
  • Stainless steel case
  • Pay with Garmin Pay
  • Ability to record drinking patterns

We've already discussed the benefits of Garmin watches when we reviewed the Fenix 6 PRO. The Venu 2 Plus retains many of them, but there are a few noticeable differences. At first glance, you'll notice a different display, specifically a precision AMOLED display that makesmakes the watch much more enjoyable to use (at least graphically). This is reflected in the battery life, which is not limiting in any way. In terms of available features, you can still enjoy the ability to track heart rateheart rate, blood oxygen levels, measuring your age based on your fitness level and much more.

Final review:
The Garmin Venu 2 Plus is an affordable version of Garmin's popular watch. As I wrote above, it is a bit of a compromise between the Fenix series and other watches designed more for everyday life. For that reason, it is a perhaps woefully underrated smartwatch that should definitely whether you're an extreme sports enthusiast or just like to hit the gym from time to time.

7. Xiaomi Mi Watch

Xiaomi Mi Watch

A lot of music for not a lot of money. In a few words, you could describe the Xiaomi Mi Watch, which is characterized by its extremely low price. But even at that price, you get a surprising number of features that make this watch in a sense compete even with much more expensive competing products.

Advantages:

  • Very affordable price
  • Stylish design
  • High-quality display protected by tempered glass
  • Offers up to 117 exercise modes

Disadvantages:

  • No internal storage

About the Manufacturer:
Chinese electronics manufacturer Xiaomi has climbed from a newcomer to one of the leading giants in the mobile phone market over the past decade. At the beginning of 2022, Xiaomi was the third largest mobile phone distributor in the world. It is therefore no surprise that it is also heavily involved in mobile accessories, which includes smartwatches.

Specifications:

  • Compatible with both iOS and Android
  • Up to 16 days of battery life
  • Plastic case
  • Amazfit OS
  • AMOLED touchscreen display
  • Non-stop heart rate measurement

The range of features available to the average smartwatch user will most likely be plenty enough. You'll find everything you need to record your workout. Of course, the Xiaomi Mi Watch won't allow you to track the same advanced stats about your movement as a Garmin watch, but you'll still get all the important information. The mobile app won't allow you to share the collected data further though, so if you prefer apps like Strava and the like, this will be a bit of a problem for you.

Final assessment:
If you're looking for a cheap smartwatch that will provide you with basic features and also look good on your wrist, the Xiaomi Mi Watch will serve you just fine. But if you wanted, for example, an aluminum/steel case, some advanced features or better connectivity with your mobile phone, you would have to pay extra for a more expensive alternative. But for most people, in my opinion, this is a perfectly sufficient alternative, which combined with the very nicely set price is a big plus.

8. Fitbit Versa 2 (NFC)

Fitbit Versa 2 (NFC)

The Fitbit Versa 2 is the next in a series of affordable yet extremelyuseful smartwatch that lets you keep a close eye on your activity throughout the day. Design-wise, like the Amazfit GTS 3, it's quite similar to the Apple Watch, but its features are considerably more limited. Given the price, however, this is completely understandable. But the resulting price-performance ratio is also top-notch in this case.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Many useful features
  • Stylish design
  • Smaller size means it won't get in the way of exercise

Disadvantages:

  • Don't have their own GPS

About the Manufacturer:
Fitbit has been a long-established player in the wearable electronics market - the company started its operations back in 2007. But as of 2021, the brand is under Google. In addition to smartwatches and fitness trackers, Fitbit also has offerings such as personal scales. Fitbit products are known for their hilarious quality and at the same time affordable price, which makes them the favorite products of a large group of people.

Specifications:

  • Compatible with both iOS and Android
  • Up to 6 days of battery life
  • Aluminum case
  • Ability to pay with Fitbit Pay
  • Allow you to reply to messages by dictating
  • Always-On mode option

With the Fitbit Versa 2, you'll be able to track your performance stats in real-time anytime, anywhere. This smartwatch offers a myriad of very useful features, includingsuch as tracking sleep quality, monitoring steps walked, calories burned and much more. The watch itself recognizes when you start exercising and alerts you to turn on the proper sports mode. Plus, it allows you to pay easily without having to carry a card or cell phone. The downside for avid runners is the lack of GPS, so you'll need to carry your cell phone with you to best record your run.

Final assessment:
The Fitbit Versa 2 isn't one of the most popular smartwatches on the market by accident. The combination of a stylish design, a plethora of features, and an affordable price make it an excellent option for a large number of people. And while the aforementioned lack of GPS, for example, may be quite a turn-off for somefor some people, it is still a very useful helper at every step.

9. Garmin Fenix 7 Pro

Garmin Fenix 7 Pro

To finish off our ranking, here's another Garmin representative, namely the latest model in the Fenix series. This is a truly precise solution for anyone who wants to take their activity monitoring to the highest possible level. Therefore, it is clear that this watch will not be suitable for everyone and that its price is really high.

Advantages:

  • High quality workmanship
  • Solar charging option
  • Professional solution
  • Sophisticated statistics on your every move

Disadvantages:

  • Really high price

Specifications:

  • Compatible with both iOS and Android
  • Up to 37 days of battery life
  • Power Sapphire slide to enable solar charging
  • Ability to pay with Garmin Pay
  • Advanced motion and sleep monitoring
  • Titanium case

The Garmin Fenix 7 is the latest model in the Fenix series, and is therefore the successor to the Fenix 6, which we've already covered. One of the most significant differences is the enlargement of the solar ring on the display, whichwhich makes solar charging even more efficient than before. The design of the individual buttons is also different, and now it won't be so easy to accidentally press them while moving, which is of course a big plus. Ultimately, you'll get a wrist that's fine-tuned down to the last detail.that will make your workout a real experience.

Final assessment:
It's probably clear that this watch is definitely not for everyone. The price alone speaks for itself. The average athlete can get by with the cheaper versions, which are also extremely useful tools for training. But the latest model from the Fenix series from Garmin is simply something special. The overall quality and features offered match the high price and I have no doubt that anyone who decides to invest in them will find them extremely useful.

The biggest benefits of smartwatches

Smartwatches are a huge trend of late. As soon as you walk into the gym, you can see them on the wrists of the vast majority of people. Nowadays, anyone who doesn't measure the number of calories they burn during a workout is like they don't even exercise. Smart watches are definitely not just a fashion accessory, although it is true that they are definitely stylish. How is it possible that they have become so popular? There are countless reasons, of course. Their main advantage is that they allow athletes to track their performance in real time. Thanks to sports watches, you'll know exactly how long you've been exercising, how many calories you've burned, and how much you've burned. you burned, how your heart rate has evolved and how your performance is improving over time. Plus, you'll also be able to look back at all your past workouts to keep track of how active you've been over time. This serves as a great source of motivation to get moving.

But it doesn't stop at the workout. You can wear your watch all the time without having to pay much attention to it. So it's easier to keep it with you, even if you have your mobile phone just thrown in your backpack. That's why you'll appreciate being able to receive notifications through your watch, as you'll never miss them. Event reminders, incoming calls, emails, and a bunch of other important information can be accessed directly from your watch without having to reach for your phone. Need to pay at the store but forgot your wallet at home? No problem, you can simply pay with your watch. The number of advantages and benefits of smartwatches nowadays can't even be expressed. Moreover, there are quality smartwatches of all price ranges on the market, so there is something for everyone.

Which smartwatch to choose?

When you fall for the charm of smartwatches and decide to get one, you need to really care about their choice. Nowadays, there are countless options to choose from, so it's easy to get confused. But before you decide to invest in a smartwatch, look at the following factors.

How do I want to use my smartwatch?

Most important of all, be clear about the purpose for which you want to buy the watch. Will it be used primarily as a communication device? Are they to act as a stylish accessory? Will you use it to monitor your regular exercise routine? A smartwatch can perform all of these functions, just some of them, or it can have some other purpose entirely. So it's important to answer this question before you even start choosing, and tailor the choice itself accordingly.

How much do I want to spend?

Although smartwatches are becoming more affordable, they are still not exactly cheap in most cases. Moreover, the price range of smartwatches is very wide. If you're not careful, you may be tempted to buy a watch that is significantly out of the price range you wanted to choose. So set a limit before you walk into a shop or open the website of your favourite online store. Trust that there are quality products to choose from in every price range, and remember that a higher price doesn't necessarily mean higher quality. On the other hand, an exorbitantly low price is a sure indicator that the watch will not actually be what it looks like in the picture. A smartwatch for a few hundred promising the latest features really won't be the best buy.

What features does the watch have?

Not all smartwatches can do the same thing. So before you buy, make sure you know what features your chosen watch actually has. This will prevent any disappointment. Finding out during use that your watch doesn't have the features you were most looking forward to would definitely spoil your enjoyment. The range of features that smartwatches have is getting wider and wider. Today, for example, a watch can easily measure your blood pressure or oxygen levels. Among the list of basic functions that all good watches should have are heart rate and sleepcategories, measuring distance walked or run, and ideally also GPS. So choose carefully.

How often do I need to charge the battery?

Another disappointment can occur if you notice that the battery on your watch has died in the middle of a workout. The battery life varies greatly from watch to watch, so while some watches may havecan last a month on a full charge, others need to be recharged every night. This is a factor to consider when buying a watch, as it will affect how you use your watch on a daily basis in the future.

Is it stylish?

As I wrote above, you can wear a smartwatch all the time. Therefore, it is very likely that you will wear it to work or school. For this reason, it's also a good idea to consider their appearance and overall design. If appearance and the way you dress is important in your work, smartwatches can be a problem in some situations. In this case, it is preferable to look for a watch with smaller dimensions and a subtle look. On the other hand, if you are not restricted by such things, you can choose a watch that suits your style. It doesn't hurt if you can alternate straps on your watch, whether it's aYou can turn a purely sporty watch into an elegant accessory in seconds.

Mobile phone compatibility

The problem of compatibility between mobile phone operating systems and watches concerns only some manufacturers. Apple is a typical example, as the Apple Watch will only work if you have a mobile phone of the same brand. In contrast, most Samsung watches (with a few exceptions) work with Apple's iOS operating system in addition to Android. So before you buy, always make sure your watch is not only compatible with your mobilem phone, but also that you can use all the available features in combination with your mobile phone.

Exercise with your watch, not by your watch

Once you get a smartwatch, it's very easy to get a bit carried away. The number of calories burned lights up on the display, the watch motivates you to keep going. It measures how often and for how long you exercise, in short, it completely monitors all your activity. But remember that the readings on the watch are for informational purposes only. What really matters is not what the watch says, but how hard you train. The number of calories burned on the display is useful information, but don't take it too seriously. Exercising just long enough to meet the goal on your watch is definitely not the way to go. You should judge your training based on your own feelings and not on what numbers your watch is showing you. Even in the case of sports watches, the old well-known rule applies that they are a good servant but a bad master.
