Corn syrup belongs to the syrups with a neutral taste, has a beautiful golden colour and a slightly sweet smell. It is less sweet than, for example, agave syrup, but more sweet than rice syrup. Its use is universal, it is suitable wherever you need to add a sweet taste.
If you've come across criticism of corn syrup, know that it's a completely different product - it's high fructose corn syrup, or HFCS, which was introduced in the 1920s. In the 20th century, it was used in all sorts of foods and beverages, especially in the USA. This has led to a huge increase in obesity.
