How do we compile our rankings and reviews?

Helping consumers choose the right products since 2015

We have a team of responsible editors behind us, each focused on what they enjoy and have the broadest experience in. We don't tell anyone what to write, and we don't force editors into positive reviews or favoring popular brands. We spend dozens of hours working on something before we publish it, and our comparisonsOur comparisons of the best supplements and partial reviews go through the following steps:

1. We study

We look at the current scientific evidence and try to deduce for each supplement what it should ideally contain. We look out for individual potentially harmful additives, we look at the quality of theIf we don't understand something, we contact a number of authorities in the field of nutrition and sports supplementation.

2. We choose the right products

We evaluate products that we have something to say about. When we prepare a comparison, we go through dozens of products offered by well-known stores and select the ones we like not only for their ingredients but also for their price/quality ratio.

3. We evaluate and compare

Once we have selected the products, we compare them with each other, check the individual parameters and also test how the products suit us. Our criteria are set completely objectively and we do not favour any brand. Our website works on the basis of commissions from individual eshops, so we do not have to cooperate with any brand and we can maintain our objectivity.

4. We write

Once we know how the products on offer are performing, we compare them, highlighting their meritsWe'll highlight their strengths, describe how you can use the product, and point out anything we think is important.

5. We regularly check and update

As the sports nutrition market is highly dynamic, we update our comparisons regularly. Occasionally we get a tip on interesting supplements directly from you, occasionally we come across something ourselves. Either way, we go through all the comparisons over time and update them if necessary.

We follow precise methodologies

In our reviews, we have long tried to remain as objective as possible and to provide you with the mostour truly authentic opinions on all the products we get our hands on. In order to give you a clear idea of what the sub-sections of our scores mean, we provide you with the following methodology (effective from 1.1.2024) a detailed description of each aspect we mention in our reviews.

Composition

For ingredients, we are usually interested in what substances a product contains, both in a positive sense and in a negative sense. For example, with whey proteins, which we first review and then rank in our best protein rankings we are not only interested in the whey solids content and therefore the protein content, but also the content of undesirable or unnecessary substances. We have therefore clearly defined the following scale:

Score

Corresponding verbal rating

1-2 points

Completely inadequate composition, which may even be harmful to your health. We recommend avoiding such a product in your own interest.

3-4 points

Weak composition, which contains some desirable substances, but on the other hand a lot ofThe amount of negative substances is still quite high and we recommend that you consider buying the product carefully.

5-6 points

The product contains a number of positive ingredients, but at the same time has little to offer. There are definitely better alternatives on the market.

7-8 points

A product that does not offend but at the same time does not impress. If you already have it at home, there is no reason to stop taking it or look for another one at any cost, but there are definitely better alternatives in terms of ingredients.

8-9 points

Very good composition. There might be some substances left out or, on the contrary, some desirable ones could be more in the product, but you won't find anything inherently bad in it.

10 points

An ideal formula that we have nothing to complain about.

Taste

Although taste is not the most important characteristic, we still like to evaluate it in supplements. It's subjective, but we dare say that, given how many different products we've tried over the yearswe've been able to test, we have a pretty good idea of what supplements our customers like and don't like. However, from our perspective, we rate the taste as follows:

Score

Corresponding verbal rating

1-2 points

A product that we found completely repulsive in taste and that we couldn't even finish in one dose.

3-4 points

A product that may have its fans, but we definitely don't expect any miracles in terms of taste. We couldn't imagine drinking it on a regular basis.

5-6 points

You may be able to drink a supplement rated this way, but you certainly won't enjoy it. While it may suit some people, we dare say it won't suit most people.

7-8 points

The taste is more artificial from our point of view, but we dare say it will definitely find its fans.

9 points

With supplements rated like this, we dare say you won't have the slightest problem sipping them.

10 points

Tasty supplements that you'll really look forward to and that we can imagine drinking just for the taste, not just at the recommended time.

Solubility

Solubility is a very important characteristic for those of you who prepare products such ason the go, or perhaps don't use a shaker to prepare a pre-workout supplement. We have therefore created the following table:

Number of points

Corresponding verbal rating

1-2 points

The product hardly dissolves at all and when it does, it creates a huge amount of lumps. It is best to prepare it with the help of a blender.

3-4 points

The product does dissolve, but it requires considerable effort. We still find it preferable to mix it with a stick blender, as preparation in a shaker can be tedious.

5-6 points

The solubility of the product is still not who knows how great and sometimes larger lumps can form, but you can dissolve it with a little effort in a regular shaker.

7-8 points

Average solubility. Could be better and there are still whole lumps in the product at times, but otherwise the product dissolves well.

9-10 points

The product dissolves quite easily and dissolves with just a spoon or shaker after mixing the recommended dose with the required amount of water.

Price

Price is a very important factor for a lot of people when choosing the right supplement, which is why we take it into consideration for our reviews as well. We understand that this factor can also be largely subjective, but we still try to take into account the price/quality ratio according to the following scale:

Score

Corresponding verbal rating

1-2 points

The supplement is too expensive for the value it delivers.

3-4 points

The supplement is sold at an above average price, so with a little searching you can definitely find better alternatives.

5-6 points

The price is average, although you can definitely find better value supplements.

7-8 points

Good price that reflects the quality of the accessory

9-10 points

A great price that we have nothing to complain about at all.

Effect

One of the most important criteria when choosing any supplement should be the effect. Although in the case of some supplements, even the effect can be largely subjective, we try towe follow our pre-defined criteria to best capture for you the effect that the supplement we are evaluating had on us. The following descriptions correspond to the individual points:

Number of points

Corresponding verbal evaluation

1-2 points

Unfortunately, we did not notice any effect at all when using the product.

3-4 points

Considering the claimed effects, the one we observed is much weaker and the supplement therefore did not work for us at all.

5-6 points

Average effect, which does meet expectations, but we definitely recommend not to expect too much from the supplement.

7-8 points

Good effect, which you will definitely notice with prolonged use. However, it still

8-10 points

Above average effect that surprised us and we therefore definitely recommend trying the product.
