Although I have been trying to cut down on my coffee consumption lately, my love for it has remained. So when I got the chance to taste Black Insomnia Coffee, I didn't hesitate for a minute and looked forward to its delivery.
What were my feelings about this coffee? What does the strongest coffee in the world even taste like? Will you ever sleep again? Find out that and much more in today's review.
Content of the review
At the outset, it remains to add that I have tried several different preparations. So in today's review you will find out, among other things, which method I prefer.
Extreme caffeine in one cup
From independent testing site Caffeine Informer found that 50g of coffee contains a whopping 1105mg of caffeine, which is a truly extreme amount. According to Wikipedia the safe dose of caffeine is between 3 and 6mg per kg of body weight, so a 100kg athlete should be between 300 and 600mg of caffeine per day. In practice, you won't use 50g of coffee right away, but it still shows that you definitely won't suffer from caffeine deficiency after drinking this coffee.
The reason why this coffee achieves such a high amount of caffeine is that the majority (specifically80%) is robusta, which achieves up to 3 times the amount of caffeine than the well-known arabica. When you add to this good growing conditions, such as soiland climate, the result is a coffee that is several times stronger than all competing coffees.
An indescribable taste experience
When you open the sealed package of Black Insomnia Coffee, you will smell an extremely intense coffee aroma that can scent an entire room in no time. It's a typical coffee aroma, only much more intense and with light chocolate undertones. After pouring water over it, the aroma is slightly less strong, suddenly more subtle and you can hardly tell the difference from any other coffee.
The taste itself is balanced, you can clearly detect a hint of nuts and chocolate, which is a complete symphony of flavours. Compared to another blend, where the majority of the coffee is robusta, you can't tell the difference. Compared to classic arabica, which you'll find to be more popular in almost every coffee from the supermarket, robusta definitely has a lower acidity, which I personally prefer.
The taste of Black Insomnia is quite bitter and earthy, as is typical of robusta, but the addition of arabica addsadds other pleasant undertones of flavours such as chocolate, nutty or caramel. All in all, I have nothing to complain about the whole blend and I am sure that every lover of quality coffee will appreciate it.On the other hand, if you look at the various rankings of the best coffeesthat are made by professional magazines, you are probably able to come across better tasting coffees.
You really won't sleep at night?
If there's anything that bothers me about Black Insomnia Coffee, it's the company's rather aggressive advertising. The coffee is really good, I understand that the company's management is set up that way, anyway, slogans like "More than caffeine, less than cocaine." aren't quite right in my opinion. Surely you are wondering if it also matched the above slogan in effect. I did feel the stimulation on me, which I have to appreciate, but I can't say that I suddenly experienced extreme bursts of energy.
Coffee for me in most cases is just a beverage that I like, an examplebut it doesn't give me any extreme stimulating effect. Black Insomnia was a nice change though, as I felt really good after drinking it. The positive effect lasted for a couple of hours, I felt pleasantly invigorated in the morning and Black Insomnia really helped me get into work mode. However, it's impossible to say that I didn't sleep after it, or slept significantly less. So the advertisement must be taken with a big exaggeration, anyway the effect is really very good and I have never had a similarly strong coffee.
How did I prepare Black Insomnia Coffee?
When it comes to preparing Black Insomnia Coffee, I honestly don't think you should approach this coffee any differently than you would a coffee from the supermarket. There are endless preparation options, but I personally preferred theThe result was a strong black coffee with a very intense flavour. If you like weaker coffee, you can use, for example, aeropress or classic filter coffee.
In case you don't have an aeropress or a moka pot at home, there is certainly no need to go to theYou don't need to buy any equipment, just a classic filter coffee will do. Black Insomnia Coffee tastes good in any preparation method, so it is purely up to your preferences. I myself have used about 20g of coffee each time, with the water temperature varying depending on the brewing method chosen. You put cold water in the moka pot, 80°C water is suitable for the aeropress and I would personally use boiling water for filtration.
Unfortunately, the price is a rather heavy investment.
For a pack of 453 grams you pay just under 400 crowns, which makes the Black Insomnia quite a challenging investment. Considering that you use roughly 20g per serving, a morning cup of coffee will cost you less than .
The price compared to a classic coffee is therefore much higher, but if you are used to drinking several cups of coffee. cups a day, one or two will be enough this time, so it will not cost that much.
Where to buy Black Insomnia cheapest?

Final evaluation
If you like coffee, you will also like Black Insomnia Coffee. It is a really interesting coffee that I would definitely recommend to try to every lover of this black drink. The caffeine content is so high that the coffee will give you a very good kick in the morning, but at the same time, you won't have a problem falling asleep at night. The only thing you will have to put up with is the higher price, but even that doesn't change my view of this coffee and I can only recommend Black Insomnia Coffee.
