If you've been around the world of sports nutrition for a while, you may well be able toyou may feel that you are no longer surprised by the various supplements that are coming back into fashion over and over again. Every now and then, however, a supplement comes along that takes the already established and commonly used supplements to the next level. For us, Milkshake Protein by BrainMax was just such a supplement, which hides under the atypical packaging designa similarly atypical formula, but one that is completely pure and worth a try. You can learn more about the various aspects of this supplement in this review.
Content of the review
At the beginning it remains to add that Milkshake Protein was also included in our selection of the best whey proteins for the current year, so if you're interested in comparing it to the competition rather than a standalone review, feel free to check out the rankings as well.
Absolutely perfect composition
Although at first glance you might think this is just another normal protein, there are actually a number of positive things we could write about BrainMax's Milkshake Protein. For example, it's a combination of milk and whey protein, whichboth of which are of organic quality, which is definitely not standard in the world of sports nutrition. In addition, the only sweetener used is plant-based stevia, which, unlikeand artificial sweeteners, there are no studies on the potential harm to our gut microbiome. As you will see later in the section where we review the taste of this protein, we were given the opportunity to try a blueberry cheesecake variant where the ingredientsin addition to the two types of protein mentioned above , there is also a natural flavour, freeze-dried blueberries from organicand guar gum, which also comes from organic farming and, in addition to being in the supplement, the soilIn addition to its role as a thickening agent, it also plays the role of fibre in the body and is completely harmless, as proven, for example, by Fair Food.
How is BrainMax Milkshake prepared?
When it comes to the preparation of this protein, it is not fundamentally different from competing products. Just take one scoop of about 35 grams of protein and put it in a shaker along with 200 ml of water or milk. After shaking for a while, the protein dissolves really easily, forming a nice and solid foamand at the same time there are absolutely no lumps left, so the consistency really resembles a milkshake. Due to the milk protein, it is not primarily a post-workout product, but rather a drink that will reliably replenish your whiteprotein during the day - so it is not such a sin if you add some other ingredients to the protein and mix it in an electronic blender. For example, we added a scoop of Biotech fitness ice cream and fresh blueberries to our Blueberry Cheesecake. And taste-wise, this snack is really hard to compete with.
What do we say to the taste of protein?
Since we taste a variety of different supplements because of our work, it haswe're delighted every time manufacturers come up with flavors other than the boring vanilla and chocolate. In the case of Milkshake Protein, in addition to the classic vanilla, you also have the choice of pistachio and just blueberry cheesecake, which is what we opted for. And honestly, although one can tread on a bit of thin ice with unconventional flavours, it paid off for us this time. The blueberry cheesecake variant is not unnecessarily over-sweetened, but it looks absolutely natural and of course you can smell the presence of freeze-dried blueberries from the protein. So we give the protein a 10 out of 10 in terms of taste and rate it very positively.
When is the ideal time for it?
While you can of course use this protein after a workout, that wasn't exactly the primary purpose for us. Due to its creamy consistency and the ability to combine it with a variety of other ingredients, we used Milkshake Protein primarilyprimarily as a substitute for one solid meal in situations where we weren't completely hungry or didn't have the option of eating another diet. After all, the protein is ready in a jiffy and fills really well and for quite a long time, so darewe can say that it can also be good as a snack for the outdoors or for school or work.
How much will you pay for it?
The only problematic aspect of the whole protein is the price, of course, which is not surprising for high quality products. For a kilo pack of the product, regardless of the flavour, you will pay 999 crowns at the time of writing this review, and that meansthat a single dose of 35 grams will also cost you less than 35 crowns. And that's honestly quite a lot for a lot of athletes when you consider that one dose ofof one of the proteins in our comparison of the best proteins can be half the price. On the other hand, this product has a very high quality and is thus comparable to, for example, Vilgain Grass Fed Isolate, which is even a bit more expensive for the same size package. We therefore ultimately rate the price positively, although we realize that some athletes may be discouraged.
Final assessment.
In conclusion, all that remains to be said is that BrainMax Milkshake Protein is definitely not cheap protein, but on the other hand, it should be taken into account that the high price reflects the really top quality that this protein possesses. And for those of you who put quality first, this product can be a great choice because in addition to the fact thatit has a completely pure composition, it also tastes fantastic, which of course you'll appreciate when you drink it regularly. So we definitely recommend trying it out and apart from the high price, we have absolutely nothing to complain about.
