Glasses that block out all blue light?
If you've read our comparison of the best glasses against blue light, you'll we don't need to explain that there are glasses with different abilities to block blue light. And the more colourful they are, the more blue light they block. So while glasses blocking only 15% of blue light are almost unrecognizable from the classicblue light, glasses that block 100% of blue light are usually stark yellow or red. We chose a thicker variant called White from BrainMarket for this review, and we have to appreciate the very hilarious design, which is definitely not a given.
When and how to use the glasses?
While it might seem like 100% blue light blocking glasses are a great option for all-day wear, that's not quite the case. After all, during the day we are exposed to blue light somewhat naturally and there is no reason to eliminate it. That comes at night, when blue light interferes with melatonin production, negatively affecting our sleep rhythm. Glasses blocking all blue light are as such made about 1,5 - 2 hours before bedtime. For all-day use, weaker glasses, such as those blocking only 15%-25% of blue light, are better.
Will they be of any help?
If you've viewed today's review, I'm sure your wondering if the glasses actually work. And our answer is that they work surprisingly well. You put the blue light goggles on two hours before bedtime and after about an hour you start to feel slightly tired. Then, when you turn off all sources of blue light and lie down, you fall asleep without any problems. Plus, when you combine the glasses with a reliable sleep accessory, you take your sleep routine to a whole new level.
Do they have any negatives?
White goggles, like really any other goggles that block 100% of blue light, cause you to see red. Personally, I have to say that I don't consider this to be an extreme negative, as it doesn't bother me when writing articles or surfing the net. However, it is very clear to me that in professions where some precision and accuracy is required, it can be a bit of a nuisance. And it's equally annoying when you're watching a movie.
What do we say about the price?
We got the White glasses directly from BrainMarket, where you can get them for just under £400. We think that's a very nice price, because if you treat your glasses well, they can last you a really long time. Considering that you'll most likely only wear them for two hours a day, there's no reason why they shouldn't last a few months or years.
