Czech Virus Choconut - Finally a healthy and tasty Nutella substitute (Review)

If there's one thing Czech Virus excels at, it's nut butters. So when this up-and-coming Czech company came up with another product for my collection, Choconut, I didn't hesitate for a moment and decided to give it a try.

How did this butter taste? Does it have a better composition than the previous products? Is it worth trying? You can find out all this and much more in the following review.

At the very beginning it is worth adding that besides this product I have also tried Coconel and Coffeenel, soif you are interested in these products, you can read their full reviews on our website. But now back to Choconut.

Great formula with minimal simple sugars

I often repeat in our supplement reviews that the most important thing about any supplement is the ingredients. It doesn't matter the company's marketing, it doesn't matter the pretty packaging, it doesn't matter the flavors available. It's the ingredients that matter. And for this great butter, only quality ingredients were used. So let's take a closer look:

Organic virgin coconut oil

A full 21% of this nut butter is cold-pressed coconut oil, which is extracted from ripe, organically grown coconuts. This oil has a significant number of benefits - it contains lauric acid which speeds up metabolism through activation of thyroid hormones, coconut oil can also boost cholesterol metabolism, prevent Alzheimer's disease and much more.

Choconut peanut butter
As you can notice, the composition of Choconut absolutely has no fault.

Hazelnuts and peanuts

Finally, we come to what should not be missing in any nut butter. "Nuts", specifically hazelnuts and peanuts (which not nuts but legumes), make up a full 38% of this butter.

And their benefits certainly don't need to be discussed at length; they are a rich source of protein and unsaturated fatty acidsThey contain a number of B vitamins and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and others. However, because of the phosphorus content, you should not overdo it with nuts (even in the form of butter)!

Whey concentrate

An ingredient that probably doesn't need much discussion. It is a rapidly absorbed source of protein with high biological value and a great spectrum of amino acids. But you definitely don't have to worry about noticing the taste of protein in any way, in my experience if I didn't know that butter contained protein I definitely wouldn't know it. And yet it makes up 15% of the entire product.

Czech Virus Choconut composition
Once you've tasted Choconut, you'll never want to try another butter again.

Waiting for

The other 15% of Choconut belongs to the plant fibre from chicory, which we talked about in, among other things review of protein bars from Czech Virus. Among their benefits, it is worth mentioning faster digestion, cleansing of the digestivedigestive tract and excellent nutritional values (minimal carbohydrate content and high content of vegetable fibre).

Natural cocoa with reduced fat content

The last 8% of the product is natural reduced fat cocoa. You may have noticed that the sum of all the ingredients listed here is not 100%, but only 97. The remaining 3% is made up of flavouring, sunflower lecithin and sucralose, which is used to sweeten the cocoa. But the cocoa itself was created by pressing the cocoa beans cold and without using any chemicals, which is definitely another big plus of this butter.

Czech Virus vs. Lucky Alvin
While great nut butters are made by everyone these days (Lucky Alvin for example), perhaps only Czech Virus has such a great formula.

The tastiest of all nut butters?

As I mentioned at the beginning of our review today, I've also tried the other nut butters in theI've tried nut butters from Czech Virus, and I like to try nut butters from all sorts of other companies as well. Choconut, however, is the best I have tasted so far. Compared to Coffeenella and Coconella, it's definitely not as sweet (after all, it only contains 2.5g of simple sugars), which is perfectly fine with me. Also, its consistency is absolutely exceptional.

While the previous two butters had a tendency to solidify, Choconut is completely problem-free even when taken out of the fridge. and you can enjoy its taste at any time without any disturbing effects.

Our tip
Although Choconela tastes great with absolutely everything, I like it with whole wheat flour pancakes or with cottage cheese before bed!
Healthy Nutella substitute
Even though the price for Choconut is really high, the taste experience is unforgettable.

Unfortunately, the higher price

To be honest, the basically flawlessness of Czech Virus products (at least from my point of view) is always spoiled by the high price. Of course, I understand that quality ingredients cost something, and this is inevitably reflected in the final price, however, Choconut comes outis even more expensive than all the previous butters that this promising Czech company has brought to the market.

For one 200g pack you will pay some and it is necessary to remember that200g is definitely not a huge amount, because the previous butters were 0.5kg.

Is it worth investing in it at all?

In conclusion, as traditionally with similar reviews, it is worth asking if it is worth investing in such nut butters at all. From my point of view, the butter is impeccable, both in terms of taste and composition. When I have a craving for something, this is the first choice I reach for.

However, when I have to decide between a (in my opinion) important supplement and Choconut, I definitely I always choose a good quality multivitamin, essential minerals and other supplements. So in conclusion: if you want to taste a great product and a healthy alternative to the popular Nutella, you definitely have to try Choconut. But if you don't have the funds to splurge, it's definitely not something you can do without.
