Although for a long time I was of the opinion that hydrolyzed protein is absolutely useless after a workout, I finally discovered its magic. The nutrients are more quickly absorbed, it does not burden the digestion at all and thanks to this you can feel better recovery after just a few doses.
One of the first hydrolysates I ever tried was Hydro Whey from Czech Virus. What are its benefits? Is it worth investing in or is a regular concentrate better? You can find out all this and much more in today's expert review.
Content of the review
I chose Hydro Whey over competing products mainly because of its 90% protein content and excellent amino acid profile. I have tried both the chocolate and banana flavours and both have impressed me. But more on that below.
Protein from the highest quality ingredients
The main, and for most of us, the most important benefit is the premium formulation of Hydro Whey. The base is Optipep® whey isolate with 90% protein content, which is processed using the CFM method, the most gentle production method ever. Because the isolate still goes through the hydrolysis process, it stands at the end of the production process extremely high quality protein with proteins that are broken down into such small particles that they are absorbed by the body very quickly.
In addition, a blend of five DigeZyme® digestive enzymes has been added to Hydro Whey to aid maximum digestibility. In terms of composition, Hydro Whey is one of the best hydrolysates ever.

Surprisingly good taste
Hydro Whey is available in two different flavours:
- Chocolate (9.5/10), which I liked much better as it wasn't as over-sweetened and the chocolate flavour was quite intense. I rate it 9.5 out of 10.
- Banana (8.5/10) didn't taste very good to me, it seemed much sweeter than chocolate, so I give it 8.5 out of 10.
The classic vanilla is missing here probably because in the case of hydrolyzate this flavor would beextremely bitter, whereas the banana and chocolate at least partially neutralize the bitterness. Either way, it should be noted that the flavour manufacturers have really succeeded, as all previous hydrolysatesI have tried so far have been extremely bitter, whereas this was not the case with any of the Hydro Whey flavours.

Easy to prepare due to good solubility
The preparation of HydroWhey is also absolutely simple. The solubility is absolutely seamless, just pour one scoop into a shaker, pour 250ml of water and shake a few times. The ideal time for hydrolyzed protein is after a workout, as it is absorbed very quickly.absorption and therefore the body can start to regenerate tired muscle fibres really quickly.

Who is it good for and who is it not?
I would definitely recommend Hydro Whey to all athletes who have sorted out their diet and just want to maximise their results. For all other exercisers, in my opinion, a regular concentrate will suffice. If you only have the basics of your diet figured out, even the highest quality proteins won't give you huge results. And there's no point in paying extra for a protein with less calories if you don't care about the calories from your food at all.
Only one pack size
Personally, I consider the availability of Hydro Whey in only one pack size to be a minor drawback. Even though a kilo contains 33 servings, the pack lasts for a month at most. And since I workout in two phases from time to time, my protein consumption is really high and a larger pack would definitely come in handy. It doesn't really change the overall review of the product, but I think most exercisers would appreciate a bigger pack.

Adequate price
Since Hydro Whey is only available in a one-pound pack, its price compares rather poorly to competing products. But, for example, compared to an equally sized pack of Optimal Hydro from Prom-IN, Hydro Whey comes out about 60K€ better.
If we do not deal with the competition, but with the product as such, it comes out relatively well in terms of price/quality ratio, because you pay about 23KKK for one dose. After all, the composition is quality, the taste is good and the effect is maximum, so what more could you ask for.
Final evaluation
If you are thinking about buying a hydrolysate, I can only recommend Hydro Whey from Czech Virus. It tastes good, has a first-class composition and its price is quite appropriate. However, it is important to consider whether you really need a protein of this quality. For the vast majority of people, a quality concentrate, such as one of our whey protein comparison.
