Although in many aspects the geographical location of the Czech Republic is an undeniable advantage, the temperate climate bringsThe climate of the temperate zone also brings one major negative - fresh fruit and vegetables do not grow all year round, but only in a relatively short period. For the rest of the year, unfortunately, we have to rely on imported fruit or use our own well-stored stocks. When it comes to fruit, you can also use dried or freeze-dried versions.
Content of the review
We were given the opportunity to try the freeze-dried dragon fruit and we will share our observations with you as part of this review.
Ingredients that can't be faulted
The ingredients are the aspect we usually pay the most attention to in our reviews. This time, however, there is no reason to do so as this product contains only and only freeze-dried dragon fruit, which is of course ideal. In fact, if you look at the ingredients of some of the dried fruits, for example, you may find that they have been sweetened or addedor, alternatively, that it contains some additives that ensure an attractive colour even after drying (apricots are a typical example). This time, however, you don't have to worry about anything like that because GymBeam's freeze-dried dragon fruit is really just fruit.
How does freeze-dried dragon fruit taste?
First of all, you will be surprised by the very distinctive pinkish-purple colour and pleasant aroma of the freeze-dried fruit. When you first bite into the fruit, you will notice that it is pleasantly crunchy and its taste is completely authentic. If you've ever had freeze-dried raspberries, for example, you'll know that they taste like fresh, but without the water. And the same is the case with this dragon fruit, which really does taste like fresh.
What are its uses?
GymBeam dragon fruit has a huge variety of uses. Of course, you can eat it on its own or pack it as a handy snack for a hike, because this fruit weighs nothing and also reliably drives away sweet cravings. In addition, however, you can use dragon fruit in porridges or all sorts ofyoghurts, where it can be combined with some of the best granola on the market. If you have creative ideas, it can also be used in a wide range of baked and unbaked desserts due to its bold colour.
What do we say about the price?
In terms of price, at the time of writing this review you will pay just over 200 crowns for 100 grams of freeze-dried dragon fruit, which frankly can feel like quite a lot. However, it must be taken into account that freeze-dried fruit is generally quite affordableyearly to produce, and moreover, dragon fruit itself is not exactly a cheap ingredient. One hundred grams is also quite a lot, although it may not seem like it, you will use a few pieces in recipes and porridges. So the package lasts a really long time.
Final evaluation
Freeze-dried fruit is definitely not some necessary part of supplementation. But if you have any use for them, GymBeam's dragon fruit is definitely worth a try. It's healthy, tasty and has a really wide range of uses thanks to its atypical colour.
