There are so many new products appearing on the smartwatch market every now and then that even the most avid technology lover can start to get lost in it. However, the Honor Magic Watch 2 was an obvious choice for me to test from the start, as I was very impressed by its design and specs.
But what will they offer to avid athletes? Are they worth investing in? Find out that and much more in today's review.

Design-wise, the Magic Watch 2 is a great fit for the company
The very first thing I have to point out about the Honor Magic Watch 2 is that it's a great fit forEven though it's a sports watch, it has a whole range of great sports features.
But it also manages to look elegant on the wrist, and you can choose from a reallyA wide range of dials to match every piece of your outfit. And if no dial suits you, you can even set your own from any of the photos stored in the gallery.
So you can have your girlfriend on your watch, a purely monochromatic background, or even Arnold Schwarzenegger's monstrous biceps. There are two buttons, one to show you the menu, you can set the function of the other one yourself, but in the basic settings it will show you a selection of sports activities.
A wide range of features you won't find elsewhere
If I were to list everything the Honor Magic Watch 2 can do in today's review, it would be a list of several pages. But instead, I'd rather highlight the features you won't find in most competing watches on the market. And even more so if you're in the same price range as the Magic Watch 2.
1. The ability to make phone calls
When I got my first smartwatch, I was excited about how much time I would save by being able to receive text messages and other notifications. But the Honor Magic Watch 2 can even take phone calls, which adds a whole new dimension to its practicality.
While the microphone isn't very loud, it's plenty loud enough to make a short call. Especially at work, you won't have to search for your mobile phone and you can conveniently handle everything with just the watch, which saves a really big amount of time.
2. You can upload music to them
The fact that a smartwatch can switch music from your phone is now commonplace. Honor has taken it to the next level by giving the watch itself an internal 2GB of storage, so you can upload music directly to the watch. In practice, this will make your life easier, for example, in that you don't have to take your phone to the gym at all, because you can play all your music on your headphones from your watch.
3. Monitor your stress
Stress monitoring is a feature that I really liked about the watch because, again, it's quite unconventional. It works based on differences in heart rate fluctuations, and you get great feedback on if and possibly how stressed you are at what parts of the day.
The slight downside is that if you suddenly start running from rest mode, for example, the watch doesn't necessarily see this as activity, but as stressfulIn 99% of cases, however, the stress monitoring works reliably.
4. Extremely sophisticated sleep monitoring
The best feature that I myself really loved about the watch is the sleep monitoring, which works extremely well and is also much more reliable compared to previous watches I've tested.
In the app, you can look at a very clear graph each morning differentiating between deep, light and REM sleep, which is very impressive. As well, you'll see the percentages of each part and a comparison to benchmark levels you might be achieving.
Up to 14 days of battery life?
One of the few drawbacks I noticed when using the watch was the lower battery life compared to the Xiaomi GTRs I tested earlier. I was very surprised that the manufacturer quotes a battery life of up to 14 days, as I was practically charging the watch about every seventh to eighth day.
It is true that I used most of the functions that give the battery a hard time, for example, continuous heart rate monitoring or the always-on display, but the Xiaomi GTR lasted over two weeks under all circumstances, which the Honor Magic Watch 2 doesn't quite come close to. On the other hand, many watches need to be charged on a bi-daily basis, so I definitely don't consider the need to charge weekly as a disadvantage.
The price/quality ratio is unbeatable
The Honor Magic Watch 2 will set you back , which is quite a high price and a purchase that everyone will surely think carefully about. But when you take into account what the watch can do and compare it with the competition, you will find that it really has no competition in its price range.
The ability to upload music, make phone calls with it or upload your own watch face is usually offered by watches that are much more expensive. So if you want high quality at a low price, definitely go for the Magic Watch 2.
Do the watches have any drawbacks?
About the only drawback I registered with the Magic Watch 2 was the difficulty of pairing it with my phone. I expected it to be a matter of seconds, but apart from the Health app, which installed instantly, I had to install anotherHuawei Mobile Services, which took up extra space on the phone and took quite a while to download. If we drop this watch, I could certainly criticize the difference between the variants.
Because if you choose the ladies' version, the one with the 42mm display, you get significantly worse features. In addition to worse battery life and only 128MB of memory, you will also be deprived of the ability to receive phone calls, which spoils my overall view of this watch. In case you have a choice, I would definitely prefer the larger, i.e. 46mm dial, which has a much wider range of features.
Final evaluation
If you have at your disposal and are looking for a reliable smartwatch that can really handle everything you need to liveand much more, the Honor Magic Watch 2 is the obvious choice because you won't get anything better in this price range. It combines a sleek design and relatively long battery life with great monitoring of yourfrom a clear graph of your heart rate throughout the day, to stress and sleep.
So not only is this watch an ideal compromise between price and quality, but it's also an ideal compromise between a sporty and practical watch, which is why I can't help but recommend it.
