Kernel Season's, the perfect diet tweak or a wasted investment? (Review)

After a long time I have here again a very interesting review of a very popular type of product, namely the spicea seasoning blend used to flavour foods in the diet, we take a look at the famous Kernel Season's.

I always make a special point to look at this type of product in fitness because, in my opinion they're unnecessary products that are just unnecessarily fooling and burdening our bodies. But I've noticed that there's been a big demand for them lately, so I wanted to focus on them a bit more.

With that, here is today's review of Kernel Season's. This is a very well-known product that is prevalent all over the world, so I'm curious to see how it stands up in our eyes,.

How did the product fare in terms of taste? Can it be classified as a health food or is it more of a marketing product? Where can it be used everywhere and what is its applicability in practice? This and much more you will find out in today's review, let's get into it.

How have I used spice blends and what are they used for?

Kernel Season's is primarily used to flavour savoury (even sweet in certain variants) dishes. According to the manufacturer, it is primarily created for healthy seasoning of homemadepopcorn, but is also great for seasoning rice, vegetables or eggs. If you own Kernel Season's sweet variants, they are especially suitable for porridges (unfortunately we haven't tested these so I won't go into them).

kernel seasons seasoning mixes

Seasoning mixes came on the market precisely to "simplify" dieting for people who have a sweet tooth and can't go long without their favourite flavours. Kernel Season's offer an alternative to seasoning your diet (whether they are suitable or not we will discuss in the paragraph about the product's composition), but it is important to note that they are not calorie-free.

As I mentioned above, seasoning blends can be used to flavor virtually any savory dish, but I found them most useful on eggs (I also tested them on rice, for example, but unfortunately I was disappointed with the taste here).

When using Kernel Season's I had a much worse digestion and digestive problems, so I definitely don't recommend it for sensitive individuals. You'll find out why I had digestive issues in the next paragraph.

Tip
Kernel Season's are great for flavoring eggs or egg whites alone, but you can use them for anything.

There are a lot of unnecessary, body-burdening additives in the ingredients

The ingredients in seasoning mixes vary a lot from one variant to the next, so I recommend going through the ingredients carefully for each one. I will break down here the most represented and most important ingredients that are found in the ingredients.

For the Cheesy Jalapeno, Nacho Cheddar, White Cheddar and Garlic Parmesan flavours

Their ingredients are very similar, so I'll break them down together here.

  • In all cases, the most represented ingredient is a blend of cheddar (and Parmesan in the case ofGarlic Parmesan), which consists of milk, cheese cultures, salt and enzymes. These are inherently healthy ingredients, which of course can be allergenic to many people, but what do you knowimportantly, they can put a lot of strain on your digestion and can make you feel bloated. I appreciate the addition of real ingredients, but in my opinion they are not suitable for the diet.
  • Other ingredients I've read here are: Soybean oil, whey, maltodextrin, lactose, buttermilk solids, sugar, corn syrup, corn protein, dextrose, and last but not least, disodium inosinate and guanylate (you've never heard of these substances? no wonder). I'm not sure if the manufacturer actually had to use all these ingredients to achieve an authentic taste. I see their addition as more of an effort by the manufacturer to saveand to serve as much ballast as possible to the customer. In the end, none of them are harmful to the body, but certainly someany of them put unnecessary strain on our digestion, can cause worsedigestion, diarrhea, water retention, increase the concentration of uric acid in the tissues and much more (not to mention that many of the ingredients are allergenic).
  • Not to completely denigrate the ingredients, I appreciate the effort to add real food, even if only in minimal amounts. I found a hint here about the addition of turmeric, onions, jalapeno peppers, garlic, parsley or chives.....but that's really just for the label.

Flavor Sour and Cream

  • Here we find cornstarch as the most represented ingredient, followed by maltodextrin, salt, non-fatsour cream, whey, whey, dextrose, sugar and of course not to be missed again is disodium inosinate.
  • Last but not least, there is onion powder, parsley and many other preservative, ballast ingredients.
  • I don't know if it's worth commenting on the ingredients again, I think you can make up your own mind. I will only write here that the composition is really awful, there are a lot of unnecessary ingredients that the body must difficult to metabolize and burden the digestion (I personally had a problem with digestion due to Kernel Season's)

Buffalo Wing flavor

  • The main ingredient here is a mixture called Buffalo Wing sauce. This is made up of surprisingly good ingredients, specifically cayenne red pepper, apple cider vinegar, garlic and salt.
  • But then there are the classic ballast ingredients like maltodextrin, dextrocorn oil, butter flavour, disodium inosinate and guanylate.
  • In trace amounts, there is again the manufacturer's attempt to add healthier ingredients like paprika extract (totally ridiculous from my point of view).

Bacon Cheddar flavour

  • We had a belated opportunity to taste this flavor and it appears as an afterthought in our review. Anyway, it is to be appreciated that there is real cheddar in this variant, which many people would not expect at all.
  • In addition to whey, maltodextrin, chives, onions, parsley and coconut oil are also present.

Now let's take a look at what this famous product actually tastes like.

Tip
Kernel Season's definitely does not belong in the diet, however, for classic weight maintenance or volume I do not see a problem with its use. It can even increase your appetite if you respond well to it (digestion).

I liked the Bacon Cheddar flavor the best

I've tried using the seasoning blends on eggs, meat, rice, vegetables and other foods. I liked them best when added to eggs or vegetables. On meat or rice, I didn't find them very distinctive and in fact they were completely lost there.

In this paragraph, I am purely concerned with taste and nothing else, so take all praise with a grain of salt.

Bacon Cheddar (10/10), is the flavour I liked the most.I like that it tastes completely authentic and despite the use of "bacon flavor" it works really well for me. It can be used not only on eggs, but I also liked it on vegetables, with chicken or even in pasta. If you're looking for a variant that has versatile use and great taste, there's no problem. Choose Bacon Cheddar.

Nacho Cheddar (9/10) is another very good flavor. The very first time I tasted it, I got the identical taste of nachos you know from Mexican cuisine. This is complemented by an undertone of cheddar, which is accompanied by a very salty aftertaste. The taste was also very strong and I loved this one on eggs, rice, meat and vegetables.

The Garlic Parmesan (8/10) is my second favourite right off the bat. Again, the cheese undertone is very strong and you can see that the maker has used a real cheese blend. This is accompanied by a strong garlic flavour, which I personally love. On the other hand, the flavour was not as pronounced and here I stuck to using only the eggs.

White Cheddar (8/10) is the last flavour I rank in the top 3. As with the last two predecessors, the cheese blend is strongly felt, but here it is only accompanied by a strong salty undertone. If you love the pure taste of cheddar alone, this is the variant for you.

Buffalo Wing (7/10) was very special and extremely distinctive. Immediately on first taste, the strong pungent aftertaste didn't sit well with me at all (I don't recommend sniffing the mixture), but I have to sayI have to say that the more I seasoned the food the more I liked the buffalo wing mixture and in the end I enjoyed it a lot. Even now that I think about it, I'd have a craving to combine it with meat or rice, it sat there perfectly.

Cheesy Jalapeno (6/10), I was slightly disappointed here because compared to the other variants tested, this one is very bland. I can only taste the cheese there minimally. This is accompanied by a fainter note of jalapeno peppers. Overall, I found this flavor to be empty, not very distinctive, rather chemical, and I definitely did not enjoy it.

Sour Cream and Onion (4/10) is the worst of all the flavours tested. It is supposed to be a blend of cream and onion, however, I would have a hard time recognizing the cream here, On the contrary, the onion is at least slightly recognizable in the distance. In the final, the taste was not at all pronounced, rather chemical, and when added to the dish, it worsened rather than improved it.

All the information mentioned is 100% subjective, so keep in mind that youryour taste may be completely different from mine and you may have a different opinion.

Tip
Don't be afraid to combine different variations to create new flavours and new uses.

Final rating

Finally, we come to the final question. So is it worth buying Kernel Season's? That depends on your taste preferences and your digestion.

It's hard to know whether to even classify the product as a health food. There's no point in kidding yourself that the ingredients are who knows how great. On the other hand, if you're not on a deep diet and you can indulge in the quotation marks, what do you eat?Kernel Season's, you can get them and try them for yourself. The taste is an interesting thing that will spice up your meal and avoid the stereotype.
