Collagen is a protein that performs a number of extremely important functions in our body. It is part of our ligaments, tendons, bones, hair, nails and teeth, for example. Despite its undeniable importance, it is not nearly as popular as other dietary supplements. This is despite the fact that people start to lose collagen naturally around the age of 35. There are quite a few collagen supplements on the market, but their quality is often really terrible. That's why we decided to try collagen, which is currently one of the best on the market. In our ranking of the best collagens, it even came in first place. It is Powerlogy Collagen, which attracts especially for its completely pure composition. Content of the review
Powerlogy is known for not adding any unnecessary additives to its products. Therefore, it is no surprise that their Collagen is also free of flavors and added sweeteners. I like this choice very much, because besides going hand in hand with the company's principles, it also supports a trend that we are seeing more and more in the supplement market today. Manufacturers are really trying to build their products on natural sources and increasingly prefer healthier versions of ingredients over artificially processed ones. The end customer naturally benefits from this, as they get their hands on a product that is not only effective, but also as gentle as possible on their body. Powerlogy is one of the biggest pioneers in this direction on the Czech market, so I was full of expectations before testing their collagen.
Absolutely unbeatable composition
In most of our reviews, we take great care with the analysis of the ingredients and pay close attention to even the smallest details. This is the only way to be able to confidently present our opinion and evaluation of a particular product. In this case, however, we really don't have to worry about the composition. Powerlogy Collagen contains only pure hydrolysed collagen peptide. Nothing more, nothing less. Thus, we have nothing to criticise here. Some might argue that the product should contain, for example, vitamin C for better use of the collagen ingested. Since the collagen is hydrolysed to make it as digestible as possible and is in a completely pure form, these concerns are unnecessary. It is true that the possible content of, for example, the aforementioned vitamin C would be a positive, butfor a person with a varied diet, its absence is not a problem.
The solubility is excellent, the taste not so much
Collagen from Powerlogy is dosed in the same way as protein. Simply pour one scoop into water, shake and drink. The key to consuming Collagen, just like protein, is first and foremost good solubility, followed by taste. As far as solubility is concerned, you won't have the slightest problem with Collagen. All the powder dissolves easily within a few seconds. It doesn't foam unnecessarily and you won't find any lumps in it. But the problem comes the moment you taste it. The manufacturer states that their collagen is "tasty and deliciously creamy". And although I haven't had anything to complain about until now, I have to strongly disagree here. Of course, unflavoured collagen cannot taste good by definition. This was to be expected, of course, but I still kind of believed the manufacturer's words.
Does this mean that every time it comes time for your daily dose of collagen, you have to grit your teeth and pour it down your throat with heroic determination? It's not that dramatic. While its taste is by no means enticing, it's not very distinctive either. That said, you can easily add it to smoothies, proteins, or basically anywhere else and not have to worry about it spoiling their taste. Thanks to this, the biggest disadvantage of Collagen can be eliminated quite easily. You can indulge in a good dose of collagen without provoking your gag reflexes.
Digestibility is second to none
In order for a supplement to be truly beneficial to the body, it must be easily digestible. However, collagen in its natural form is very resistant to digestion, so it doesn't break down enough in the stomach for the body to use it effectively. Does that mean we're reviewing a product all the time here that our bodies don't actually use? Not at all. Powerlogy's Collagen, like all quality collagen supplements, contains collagen peptides, which is collagen processed through hydrolysis. This makes it easier for the body to use and supplementation is not just a waste of money. For us, however, what is important at the moment is that Powerlogy Collagen is digestible without any problems and perfectly usable for the body.
Perfect value for money
The price-quality ratio is a decisive factor for many when shopping. Some really high quality supplements don't sell nearly as well as their lower quality variants precisely because of their prohibitive price. Above we have clearly categorised Powerlogy's Collagen as a quality supplement, does this show in its price tag? To some extent yes, but it's not a big deal. One dose comes out to less than 20 crowns, which is not the least, but it's still a very affordable price. There are much cheaper products on the market, but they will hardly be equal to Collagen. Similarly, we can also find much more expensive products, but they are not necessarily of higher quality. This puts Collagen somewhere in the middle. When we take into account its quality, we find that the price-quality ratio is really excellent in this case. It is true that we could find variants that would save us a few crowns, but their quality would be somewhere else. In the end, therefore, we have no choice but to rate it positively.
Final summary
As I wrote in the introduction, I had really high expectations from reviewing this product. It often happens to me that when I'm really looking forward to a review, I end up disappointed. I'm really glad that wasn't the case today. Powerlogy's Collagen is exactly what I was hoping it would be. A quality supplement at a very fair price that definitely won't disappoint. That is, unless you buy it based on the manufacturer's claims of its great taste and deliciously creamy consistency. In fact, the taste is the only thing I really have to complain about. But again, Collagen can be added to pretty much anything without a problem. Thus, I would be doing the manufacturer a disservice if I just blindly criticized Collagen because of its taste. The unpleasant taste is simply a tax on the absolutely pure composition.
The ingredients are the biggest advantage of this product. No added colourings, flavourings, preservatives, nothing. Only pure collagen, which has also been hydrolysed to make it as digestible as possible. In this respect, I really have nothing to complain about. That is also why Collagen from Powerlogy leaves today with such a high rating. I can happily recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good quality and easy to use collagen at a reasonable price.
