For some people, coffee is an ordinary drink to which they do not attach any importance and are happy to get up in the morning. However, the coffee trend has been booming in recent years and we are going to focus on it on our website. And after reviewing one of the strongest coffees in the world, Black Insomnia, we'll also take a look at Powerlogy's coffees. Let's do it.
Content of the review
Really top-notch composition
First of all, a little excursion into the world of coffee is in order. Because if you buy coffee in regular supermarkets, it will probably be so-called commodity coffee, bought on the exchange, quite possibly without regard to the origin and flavour profile of the coffee. You can think of it analogously to buying a box of apples that you know de facto nothing about. And that's the first major difference in Powerlogy's coffees, with the company offering several coffees to choose from:
- Single farm - all beans come from one farm and thus have largely similar flavor profiles and characteristics. It comes from El Salvador and is grown at an altitude of around 1400 metres.
- Microlot - a term for a specialty coffee produced in very limited quantities. Specifically, Powerlogy's microlot has a cupping score of over 90.
- Strong - which is a combination of premium Arabica and premium Robusta. As a result, the coffee has more caffeine and a more intense bitter taste that Italian espresso lovers will appreciate.
All coffees are naturally so called "espresso". organic and no pesticides or chemicals have been used in their cultivation, and the unique thing about them is that they are also is the slow roasting and detailed laboratory testing to ensure that the coffee is truly free of undesirable substances.
How does this coffee taste?
If coffee is primarily a pick-me-up for you, you probably won't notice any major change from supermarket coffees. But if, like us, you've fallen under the spell of select arabica, you'll definitely enjoy this coffee and appreciate its very diverse flavour profile. Compared to those typical dark roast coffees, Powerlogy Single Farm is roasted to a medium degreeso the flavour has a very subtle acidity, but there are still obvious notes of chocolate and dried fruit. The Strong variant is then noticeably more bitter, the acidity is almost completely and the intense flavour of nuts and chocolate remains.
How to prepare the coffee?
What we must particularly appreciate about Powerlogy's coffees is their relatively versatile preparation. While the Strong variant is more suited to automatic and lever coffee machines, or the Single Farm version can also be filter brewed and still taste absolutely fabulous.
Is it worth the price?
At the time of writing this review, 250g of Single Farm coffee comes out at 299 crowns, the same as the Strong version. The aforementioned Microlot goes up to 449 crowns, which of course reflects the uniqueness and rarity of this coffee. And frankly, although it may seem a lot compared to supermarket coffees, it's not enough to comparefor the selection of coffees, it is certainly not bad and there are also significantly more expensive models. And if you drink coffee for quality rather than quantity, in the case of Powerlogy we dare say you'll be satisfied.
Final assessment: great coffee at a good price
What more should we say about Powerlogy Coffee? Perhaps just that it is an excellent coffee that is proven to be free of harmful substances and that offers a unique and clean taste. Add to that a good price and you have a product that, from our point of view, is definitely worth trying and that we recommend.
