Over the course of our existence, we have tried countless proteins and written numerous reviews for you. And since we are well aware that protein is clearly the most popular supplement on the market, we are not going to stop this trend. So today we're going to take a look at a protein from Skinny. In what ways were we pleasantly surprised and what did we have to criticize? That's what you'll find out in today's review.
Content of the review
Skinny is a Czech brand of sports nutrition supplements, which focuses primarily on the production of products designed for weight loss. In addition to fat burners, it offers mainly vitamins and proteins. Although the company's clientele consists primarily of women, it is increasingly succeeding in attracting men as well.
Average composition
Skinny Protein contains 80% protein concentrate processed through a non-chemical cross-filtration process or CFM. It is the most gentle and absorbable form of protein, and for this reason it is also the most widely used. There is therefore nothing to criticise in this respect. However, I see a minor problem in the fact that the protein does not contain anything extra. Nowadays, the protein market is teeming with countless products that are constantly competing to see which one will attract the most customers. For that reason, I would definitely welcome here, for example, digestive enzymes to improve digestibility, some added amino acids, or basically anything extra. Without that, the ingredients cannot be rated as anything better than average. On the other hand, it should be added that Skinny's protein contains an average of about 23 grams of protein per serving, which is definitely not a shame.
Seamless solubility
Without good solubility, even the best protein is doomed to failure. In this case, fortunately, there is nothing to complain about. Just pour one scoop into a shaker, pour in about 250ml of water, give it a quick shake and you're good to go. No lumps remain in it and, with the exception of the cappuccino flavour, it doesn't foam unnecessarily.
Which flavour to choose?
Taste is one of the key factors for many people when choosing a protein. It's no wonder - people drink it practically every day and larger packs can last up to 2 months. I'm sure everyone has experienced a situation where they've had to really force themselves to drink a protein. That's why we pay a lot of attention to flavour reviews and try to evaluate them as objectively as possible.
- Chocolate (7/10) is probably the most popularflavour next to vanilla. If you prefer a really strong flavour that gets you right the first time, you're going to be quite stumped here. Skinny's Chocolate protein is not very strong. It just tastes like an average chocolate protein that won't really impress you, but on the other hand it won't offend you either. Thanks to the less pronounced taste, however, it is more likely that you won't get tired of it so quickly, which is undoubtedly a big plus.
- The cappuccino flavour (8/10) differs from the others mainly because it foams much more. The taste is also not very pronounced, but in this case I rate it more as a positive. To my pleasant surprise, it doesn't taste artificial at all, so I can imagine enjoying it even after a long time. Is this the best coffee flavour I have ever tasted? Definitely not, but I definitely have to give it a positive rating.
- I ratethe coconut flavour (8.5/10) the best of the three. At first glance, you'll notice that it has a creamier consistency, which maydepending on your preference, can be a big plus or a big minus. Taste-wise, it's definitely the most pronounced, with the ubiquitous little bits of coconut also contributing. Compared to the other flavours, it is also the sweetest, but even this time you won't feel any artificial aftertaste.
Relatively high price
For a kilo pack of protein you will pay less than 800 crowns, which is quite a lot compared to the competition. It is not the most expensive protein on the market, but considering the fact that it does not have a non-standard composition, such a price is quite high. For example, Prom-IN CFM Evolution is definitely better in terms of composition, but it comes out much better in terms of price. This is also true for most of the products at the top of our ranking of the best whey proteins. The resulting price/quality ratio is therefore not the best.
Final assessment
Skinny Protein may not be among the absolute top of the market, but it does its job well enough. The negatives in the form of uninteresting composition and relatively high price are compensated by excellent solubility, pleasant taste and trouble-free digestibility. Ultimately, I can recommend it to anyone who likes to try proteins of new brands, or simply does not necessarily need the best ingredients on the market.
