To begin with, Vilgain's Biltong took first place in our Best Sushi comparison.so if you're interested in a comparison with the competition, don't hesitate to check out the aforementioned ranking. But now back to today's review.

Perfect ingredients with no unnecessary additives

It probably won't come as a surprise that this biltong is made up entirely of beef (or possibly deer).which makes up 98% of the product, salt and spices, while the chilli variant also contains Carolina reaper chilli. Many other products have very similar, no doubt great, ingredients. But what we really want to appreciate about this product is that Vilgain clearly declares that it is meat from premium Czech farms. Many other producers do not state the specific origin of their meat and you are pretty much buying a rabbit in a bag. Here, however, you can look forward to precision-cut Czech beef or deer with minimal additives, offering you 63% protein in every serving. Plus, you can choose from 25, 50 or even 100 grams, so we dare say there's something for everyone.

Where to take biltong?

As it is a dried meat, you can count on a long shelf life and resistance to normal daily temperatures. The fact that you don't have to store the meat in the fridge or anywhere else in the cold makes it a great choice for hiking, for example, because it doesn't take up too much space in your backpack and can really fill you up. In addition, however, you can take biltong as a nutritionally rich snack in the car, to work or wherever you see fit.

How did we like the meat? Can it fill you up?

Vilgain produces its biltong in two variants, namely Original, which is just a mixture of meat, salt and spices.and the Chilli variant, which also contains the aforementioned Carolina reaper chilli. It should be noted that although the choice is not as wide as the one offered by, for example, the Indiana Jerky we reviewed, there is actually something for everyone. If you don't like spicy food, opt for the original, which is flavourful. If you don't mind spicy meat, reach for the Chilli variant, which suited us a little better. Of course, you can tell the meat is slightly spicy, but despite using one of the world's hottest peppers, it's not a bad thing.

We also have to appreciate the fact that the jerky can really fill you up. 300 grams of meat was used to make 100 grams of biltong, so frankly, even a 50 gram pack can fill you up well somewhere on a hike. Of course, it won't replace a full meal like Adventure Menu does, but it will serve as a snack.

How do we rate the price of Vilgain Biltong?

As we mentioned once before in this review, Vilgain makes their biltong in 25, 50, and 100 gram variants, with for us, the golden middle ground of the 50 gram pack makes the most sense. This is ideal in terms of size, and we also dare say that for most people, it will be a sufficient snack, perhaps on a hike somewhere. You will pay 119 crowns for a 50-gram pack, which is actually not bad at all. If you buy five packs, you even get a 10% discount, which is a very nice price. For context, it is worth adding that the smaller twenty-five gram pack costs 69 crowns and the larger one hundred gram pack 229 crowns. Of course, given this price, biltong probably won't become your daily snack, but once it's releasedyou go hiking or to places where it's not easy to buy quality fresh food, biltong will come in really handy. And compared to other biltongs from competing manufacturers, the price is actually very nice.
