Micellar casein is definitely not among the most important supplements that should not be missing in an athlete's repertoire. On the other hand, its use certainly makes sense, especially for strength-oriented athletes. But it is necessary to choose a quality product. How does Vilgain Micellar Casein, which we got the opportunity to test, perform? Is it worth using or is it a waste? That's what we will focus on in today's review.
Content of the review
A certain harbinger that this product is among the TOP micellar caseins may be the fact thatthat we have ranked it at the top of our comparison of the best overnight proteins. So if you're interested in a comparison with the competition rather than a detailed review, feel free to check out the rankings.
Ingredients stand up to scrutiny
When it comes to the ingredients, as is usually the case with Vilgain products, we have nothing to complain about. 95% of the product is made up of micellar casein (which is, of course, a million times betterbetter choice than the sometimes used calcium or sodium caseinate), withThe vanilla flavour, for example, is only enriched with the addition ofThe vanilla flavour is enriched with a natural flavouring, a steviol-glycoside-based sweetener, guar gum for thickening and ground vanilla. As a result, the vanilla flavour offers 75% protein content, which is really good for micellar casein.
On the other hand, we must point out that the protein content varies across flavours. If you choose the strawberry flavour instead of vanilla, the resulting protein is only 70% protein due to the higher freeze-dried strawberry content. For most athletes, however, this is just a relatively minor detail that doesn't need to be addressed.
Hassle-free preparation
The preparation of micellar casein is no different from whey caseincasein does not have any major specifics regarding, for example, solubility or consistency. Therefore, in the preparation process, we mixed 30 grams of protein in 250 ml of water and within a moment in a shaker the product dissolved without any problems. If you want to prepare a protein with a nice creamy consistency, we definitely recommend putting it in a blender and throwing in a few ice cubes.
Great taste
This micellar casein from Vilgain comes standard in 4 variants, namely the tried and tested strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. We got the product in the vanilla flavour and we have to say that we were completely satisfied. The flavour is full, yet completely natural and doesn't feel artificial at all.
However, we also have to appreciate the presence of the product in the unflavoured version, which for us makes sense for anyone who wants to, for exampleor who simply mixes micellar casein with other supplements. Of course, this only contains micellar casein concentrate and guar gum for thickening, so it can also bea great option for those of you who avoid all types of sweeteners and want the purest product possible.
What do we say about the price?
Vilgain Micellar Casein comes out really well compared to competitors from our overnight protein comparison, for example. Considering that a full pack at the time of writing this review comes out at £699, one dose will set you back overThis is great in our opinion, and many competing products are significantly more expensive.
Final assessment.
Whether you're looking for a quality overnight protein or just want to mix your own multi-ingredient protein, Vilgain's Micellar Casein is definitely a great choice. It's tasty, has a good formula and is also available at an unbeatable price.
