Today we will take a look at a relative newcomer to the market, Vilgain Whey Protein. If you're a little confused by the fact that the Vilgain brand doesn't ring a bell, I totally understand. After all, it didn't mean anything to me at first either. However, I am almost 100% sure that you have heard the word Aktin at least once in your life.
Well, it is the brand Aktin, whose products are now hidden under the name Vilgain. And the reason? Well, Aktin simply decided that they wanted to expand abroad. But since the aktin.com domain is already taken, they decided to use this complication to come up with a completely new name for their products. The word Vilgain contains two other words, will and gain.
I don't know about you, but I personally like this new name. Apart from that, of course, nothing else has changed. Actin will continue to produce and sell the same quality products as before. Well, as I mentioned above, it is one of them that we will take a closer look at today in this review. So if you are interested in the ingredients, taste or price of the Vilgain Whey Protein supplement, definitely don't stop reading. You will find out everything you need to know in this review.
Content of the review
I can't help but mention here, at least marginally, the, for me, quite unusual packaging that Actin has chosen for these proteins. I have never seen a protein with transparent packaging before. However, I have to admit that it is definitely a great idea, which makes Aktin a little bit different from its competitors. The original packaging is so clearly fine, but does this protein match its competitors in terms of quality and taste? Find out below.
Composition and digestibility
Vilgain Whey Protein is a whey protein concentrate. It is thus the most basic processing of whey ever, which occurs after its first filtration. Compared to isolate and hydrolysate, it contains a significantly higher amount of components that can positively influence human vitality, such as immunoglobulin or lactoferrin. At the same time, it also has a higher fat and lactose content. People who are lactose intolerant should therefore opt for isolate or hydrolysate.
Here, the whey protein is processed by ultrafiltration at low temperatures. Thanks to the low temperature, the protein retains most of its important components. So even though it is not a high-quality production process like the CFM method, it is still a high-quality whey protein.
Furthermore, the manufacturer states on their website that this concentrate is made from the milk of free-range cows on Irish farms. As these cows are grass-fed, their milk should have a more favourable fatty acid content.
It is therefore a very high quality whey concentrate containing a high proportion of essential amino acids, including the notorious BCAAs. For the average exerciser who does not suffer from lactose intolerance, it is thus clearly an ideal choice, which will perfectly support both recovery and muscle growth.
As a sweetener it uses Stevia, more precisely Steviol glycosides, which are sweetening substances obtained from the leaves of this plant. It is a very popular and healthier alternative to artificial sweeteners such as saccharin or the often used sucralose. So if you are trying to avoid such artificial sweeteners, this protein is for you.
In addition to Guar Gum, often used as a thickener, Vilgain Whey Protein also contains Sunflower Lecithin. While this is only a relatively minor value, I still personally find it a welcome alternative to the more commonly used soy lecithin.
Even though this protein contains no artificial sweeteners and dyes, I am a bit disappointedthat there are no proteolytic enzymes like papain, bromelain or lactase. This is quite noticeable in the digestibility of the protein itself. I would definitely appreciate proteolytic enzymes here, for maximum digestibility support. However, in terms of composition, this is still a very high quality protein that you definitely won't go wrong with.

Solubility and nutritional values
Vilgain Whey Protein dissolves really well, both in water or milk, as well as in yoghurt or cottage cheese. In addition, it has a pleasantly creamy consistency without too much foam. Perhaps thanks to the Guar Gum content, it can also be perfectly filling. As a quick snack on the go, it is really an ideal choice that I can only recommend.
In terms of nutritional value, this protein has approximately 400 kcal per 100 g. The protein content is around 70 g per 100 g. In a single 30 g serving, there is thus roughly 21 g of protein. The carbohydrate content per 100 g ranges from less than 9 g to 12 g. Despite the fact that it is a relatively calorie-dense protein, Vilgain Whey Protein is still a quality protein containing an adequate amount of protein.

Individual flavour ratings
And we come, for many, to the most important point of this review and that is, of course, the rating of the individual flavours. In addition to the one-pound pack, which the manufacturer also offers without flavor, you canYou can choose from a total of three flavours, namely vanilla, chocolate or banana. I had the opportunity to try all three of these flavours. So what do I say about them? Do you think they were good?
Vanilla 7/10 is and will always be a sure thing that I will never let go of. And it certainly didn't let me down with this protein either. While it's true that it's not exactly God knows how bold, it's still a great and subtle flavour that you definitely won't go wrong with.
Chocolate 7.5/10 is another certainty that won't let you down in the vast majority of cases. Which was also confirmed with this protein. Its chocolate flavour was clearly the best of the three. It was not unnecessarily sweet, but on the contrary a little bitter, just as chocolatey as it should be.
Banana 6.5/10 is unfortunately the worst flavour this time. I didn't find it sweet enough and compared to the vanilla and chocolate it was very bland. Despite that, it is still not a particularly bad flavour. So if you're interested, I definitely wouldn't be afraid to try it.
I have to admit that I basically only drink the protein itself after a workout. I much prefer it mixed in cottage cheese or oatmeal. Well, Vilgain Whey Protein was perfectly suited for such use. While the chocolate flavor was in semi-fat cottage cheese with dark chocolate chunks and the Dutchcocoa, the vanilla flavour, on the other hand, was perfect in cinnamon porridge with apple.
Affordability
Now all we have to do is evaluate the price of Vilgain Whey Protein. So how does it look? While a one-kilo pack will set you back , for a two-kilo pack you'll pay a flat . In the first case, one 30 g serving will cost you less than . In the second case, the same size dose will cost you less than . So the price of this protein works out very well indeed.
Final verdict
I can only recommend Vilgain Whey Protein. For a pleasant price you get a very high quality whey concentrate with a balanced composition with a balanced composition, great usability and great, although not very distinctive flavours. So if you are looking for quality protein at an affordable price, Vilgain Whey Protein is the right choice for you.
But if I had to choose, I would probably reach for one of the previously reviewed proteins like Prom-in CFM Evolution or Protein&Co CFM Whey Protein 80instead. These two proteins are, in terms of composition and price, even a bit better and also a better choice.
But I still think that Vilgain Whey Protein definitely deserves all your attention. So if you are seriously considering buying it, if I were you, I would stop thinking and just try it out. For a very nice price you will get a high quality protein that will do the absolute maximum for muscle growth and recovery.
