Leucine is one of the essential amino acids that the body cannot make and must be taken in the diet. It has several functions - it supports the maintenance of blood glucose levels, counteracts the catabolic process and participates in muscle protein synthesis. It also regulates blood sugar levels, is involved in the growth and regeneration of muscle and bone tissues and in the production of growth hormone.
