  • 1000 mg of cow colostrum

The ingredients of Amix Colostrum 1000 are completely true to its name. In one dose you will find 1000 mg of cow colostrum, which corresponds to two gelatin capsules. The manufacturer recommends taking this dose twice every day. One packet lasts 25 days at the recommended dosagewhich isn't a lot, but compared to the competition, it's not terrible. We have only one complaint about the composition itself and that is the titanium dioxide content. This is a rather controversial dye, without which the whole product could easily do without. Otherwise, however, we rate the composition positively.

Final assessment:
As already mentioned in the introduction, Amix Colostrum 1000 represents a good compromise between a quality composition and an affordable price. Therefore, it is not the cheapest or the most interesting product on the market, yet it is ultimately a great choice for most people. Thanks to its affordability, it will also appeal to those people who are not interested in spending unnecessarily on dietary supplements but on the other hand, it offers a reliable formula so it is not a waste of money. We therefore rate Amix's Colostrum as excellent.

In addition, the manufacturer has added the prebiotic inulin, which supports the health of the digestive tract. As for the dosage, according to the manufacturer's instructions, you should take 3-6 capsules per day. As always, we recommend starting with smaller doses and gradually increasing them depending on how you feel after taking colostrum.

Final assessment:
In terms of composition, there is really nothing to fault BrainMax's goat colostrum. The only negative lies in the already mentioned high price. What is colostrum?

Before we get into the details of what substances colostrum contains and why it is so beneficial to health, we must pause for a moment on the very basics, which are essential for understanding what follows. What exactly is colostrum? It is a liquid similar to milk. Colostrum, which is also known as colostrum, but is produced just before childbirth allall mammals and is also formed in the period immediately after birth (usually the first few days).

Colostrum or milk?

Unlike traditional milk, colostrum has a thicker consistency and a characteristic yellowish colour. This is mainly due to the fact that colostrum contains many more health-promoting substances. The first days after birth are crucial for building up immunity. Colostrum serves to provide newborns with all the necessary vitamins, minerals, immunoglobulins and much more. The content of these individual substances is several times higher in colostrum than in normal milk.milk, which is why it is not only important for the development of newborn mammals, but also provides many health benefits for people of all ages.

What substances does colostrum contain?

Although milk itself is often considered a great source of protein and minerals (althoughthe attitude of athletes towards milk has changed a lot in recent years), it can hardly compare to colostrum. It contains much more protein, immunoglobulins, minerals and vitamins. The calcium content of colostrum, for example, is almost four times higher than that of colostrum.and iron more than six times. In addition, however, colostrum also contains high concentrations of vitamin A, vitamin D and immunoglobulins, specifically IgG, IgA and IgM isotypes. The fact that colostrum contains high doses of extremely important nutrients is not surprising given its purpose. However, the difference between milk and colostrum is much greater than many people realize. Simply put, it can be said that colostrum is really packed with health benefitsof healthful substances, which, of course, brings with it countless health benefits.

Don't overlook
Colostrum also contains, for example, Votamax Performance Protein (review), which we have reviewed for you in detail.

Is cow or goat colostrum better?

Speaking of the composition of colostrum, it is also worth mentioning the difference between cow and goat colostrum. This is mainly due to the different diets of the two animals. Goats generally have a much more varied diet, so that their colostrum contains morea wider range of substances, many of which are present in larger quantities. The second major difference is also the price. In this case, however, cow's colostrum has the upper hand because it is much cheaper. This is due both to the number of cows reared in relation to the goats reared and to the amount of colostrum produced by each animal. As the farmers have to make sure that the newborn kids have enough colostrum for themselves in the first place, they often do not have much left to sell. The resulting price of goat colostrum is therefore relatively high.

Colostrum and the effect on health

So what are the health benefits of colostrum? There are not a few of them, so we will look at the really important ones. What are they?

Improves immunity

The first point probably won't surprise anyone, given its high immunoglobulin content. Colostrum has a positive effect on the immune system, which ultimately means a whole host of other sub-benefits. Protecting your health through an immune response is essential for a healthy body not only during periods of increased disease incidence (typically in the fall), but actually at any time.

It promotes regeneration

For athletes, it is also very important news that colostrum supports the regeneration of the body. However, this does not only apply to the regeneration of muscle fibres damaged by strength training, but to all muscle injuries in general. It also contributes positively to bone regeneration, which is extremely important for older people whoThey are much more likely to have problems with thinning bones, which can lead to unpleasant injuries.

Muscle growth

Any food high in protein is warmly welcomed in the diet of strength athletes. Since colostrum is a rich source of protein (specific protein content varies depending ondepending on the animal), it is not surprising that it contributes to muscle growth. In addition, however, colostrum also contains growth hormone, which also contributes to muscle growth in a very significant way. This makes colostrum a very appealing food for strength athletes of all stripes, and its inclusion in the diet is particularly advisable in so-called bulking.

Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects

To make matters worse, colostrum is an important aid in the fight against inflammation and bacterial diseases. This is partly due to its support of the immune system, but in addition to studies have shown that colostrum also offers anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.

It has a positive effect on the gut microbiome

In our article The microbiome is more important than you might think, we discussed how the microbiome is important to our overall health. Among other things, colostrum is important because it has a positive effect on the microbiome. Therefore, this is another way that colostrum positively affects the overall health of the human body.

How to use colostrum?

First of all, it should be noted that there is no fixed recommended dosage of colostrum. Most studies work with doses ranging from 14 to 60 mg per day. Therefore, if you decide to take colostrum in supplement form, you need to stick to the manufacturer's recommendations. However, the effect of colostrum depends on many factors (origin, diet of the animal, time, etc.), so the dosage of each product can vary quite a lot. For this reason, we recommend taking smaller doses at the beginning and increasing them over time as you are comfortable with them.

As far as the individual forms of dietary supplements are concerned, you will usually find products in the form of capsules or tablets on the Czech market. However, it is also possible to come across supplements in powder form, although the number is considerably smaller.

Does colostrum have any negatives? And should one prefer to avoid it?

Although colostrum has a number of health benefits, it is also necessary to point out some of its negatives. The first is the fact that it contains lactose, which is unsurprisingly a problem for people with lactose intolerance. Although the composition of lactose is not exactly the same as that found in conventional milk, its content is certainly not negligible. Nor is colostrum suitable for people with a dairy allergy. It is also worth noting that colostrum contains quite a lot of oestrogen, which is not ideal in the long term. Problems can also arise if you really overdo it with colostrum. As with any other supplements or foods, overconsumption can lead to digestive problems and other unpleasantness. So again, we recommend sticking to the dosage specified by the manufacturer and not exceeding it unnecessarily.

What is the best product to choose?

There are a few things to watch out for when choosing any dietary supplement. The first is, of course, the quality of the ingredients in your chosen product. Poor quality products may be cheaper, but ultimately you will almost always lose money by buying them. Quality ingredients are a necessary condition for a supplement to provide the desired effect. The purity of the ingredients is closely related to quality. The ideal dietary supplement does not contain unnecessary additives, controversial sweeteners, dyes or flavourings. Therefore, always rely mainly on proven brands that you trust and have a good experience with.
