Detailed comparison of protein porridges

1. Vilgain Minute porridge

Vilgain Minute porridge

We consider the best protein porridge on the market to be a product called Minute Protein Porridge, which is the company behind Vilgain. It offers, in addition to a truly fabulous taste, a full 25 grams of protein per serving, very easy preparation and of course a good portion of fibre, which will keep you full for a long time and get your active day off to a good start. And when you combine that with a very pleasant price, there's nothing to worry about at all.

Highlights

Benefits:

  • 25 g of protein per serving
  • Great ingredients
  • Pleasant price
  • Great reviews
  • 2 flavours available

Disadvantages:

  • We miss the natural option
  • Package contains only 5 servings
Summary

How we liked the porridge:
We were quite impressed with the Minute Protein Porridge, especially the positive reviews from peoplewho have already tasted it, so we didn't hesitate to try it either. And we have to say that it was a really good decision - the Coconut Cream variant is absolutely delicious and will undoubtedly please the lovinglovers of all sweet desserts such as Raffaello, while the Chocolate and Hazelnut offers an intense and pleasant chocolate flavour. What both variants have in common is that they are not very sweet, which is very positive, because it gives you a good opportunity to add any other ingredients you like to the porridge.

How we rate the ingredients:
Whichever of the two available flavours we look at, compositionally we have nothing to fault them either - for example, for the Coconut Cream version, the milk is the base of the product.protein concentrate, which makes up 31.5% of the product, as well as gluten-free oatmeal andthe gluten-free oats, grated coconut, cane sugar, coconut milk powder, ground vanilla and sea salt. So all the ingredients are perfectly fine for us. Interestingly, unlike some other products, Vilgain decided to reach for the sugar, soso this product will definitely be a great choice for those of you looking for a product without artificial sweeteners.

Final review:
Although Vilgain's Minute Protein Oatmeal is really great and workswe consider it to be the best breakfast porridge, we do have two minor reservations about it. If you follow the recommended dosage, the porridge only lasts for 5 servings, which we think is really not enough. We would have appreciated, from this point of view, maybe a kilo (or even bigger) pack for those of us who, for example, eat instant porridge for breakfast regularly. The second shortcoming is the lack of an unflavoured version, which everyone could flavour according to their own preferences. Again, this could be particularly pleasing to regular consumers, who could then flavour their porridge according to their current preferences each day. Despite this, this porridge is great and we definitely recommend trying it.

2. SizeAndSymmetry Protein Mash

SizeAndSymmetry Protein Mash

The second place in our comparison today was taken by Protein Mash from SizeAndSymmetry. This porridge combines the ideal amount of protein and carbohydrates, is available at a good price and you won't find no nonsense added ingredients that could spoil the nutritional profile of the whole product.

main points
Benefits:
  • Excellent value for money
  • Available in three flavours
  • Minimum of simple sugars
Disadvantages:
  • Even the unflavoured version is quite sweet
Summary
How we liked the porridge:

For Protein Mash, you can choose from three different options - coconut, creamy yogurt and natural. My only complaint is that even the unflavoured version seems very sweet, which I didn't like. But apart from that, there is nothing to fault, all porridges keep the simple sugars to a minimum, their flavour halfI can therefore recommend them without the slightest hesitation.

How we rate the ingredients:

Even in terms of composition, we have nothing to fault this porridge. It consists of only the most basic ingredients - CFM whey isolate, oat extruded flour, rice instant flour, rice flakes, micellar casein, and steviol glycosides and sucralose are used for sweetening, i.e. health-safe ingredients. If you choose the coconut option, for example, only shredded coconut is added, which does not adversely affect the nutritional profile of the porridge.

Final assessment:

Although SizeAndSymmetry is not such a well-known company, their porridge definitely deserves the top spot in our comparison. The great ingredients, great taste, and affordable price make this porridge a product that canyou can eat every morning and not have to worry about any unnecessary sugars or empty calories.

3. Prom-IN Low Carb Protein Mash

Prom-IN Low Carb Protein Mash

The third place in our ranking of the best protein porridges was taken by Low Carb Protein Mash, produced by the well-known company Prom-In. It combines premium sources of protein and peptides with quality cereals rich in beta-glucans, thusso it is a food for the most demanding customers.

Highlights
Benefits:
  • Extremely high quality ingredients
  • Great taste
  • Excellent digestibility
Disadvantages:
  • Higher price
  • Contains guar gum
Summary
How we rate the taste:

I've personally been using Low Carb Protein Mash for quite a while and when I make it with a little yogurt or cottage cheese, I can't get enough of it. The mash tastes very good, my favourite flavour is definitely chocolate and coconut, but the pear variant is not to be missed either. With all the flavours it is a bit disturbing for my taste that they are quite sweet, I always have to use a bit more water.

How we rate the ingredients:

Aside from the guar gum, which is not a health hazard, but I don't quite see it in porridge, there is nothing to fault with Low Carb Protein Mash. It contains probiotic cultures, high quality micellar casein, CFM protein concentrate, instant oatmeal, and other very high quality ingredients that I would definitely put my hand up for.

Final review:

The Low Carb Protein Mash is a very good porridge from my point of view, and the only thing that spoils my overall impression is that it doesn't quite manage to I don't think thatit can fill you up very well (which on the other hand can be an advantage if you have it before a workout) and the guar gum content, which I don't imagine in a quality product either. On the other hand, you can find substances in it that other porridges do not offer, for example digestive enzymes, and therefore I can recommend it.

4. Extrifit Protein Break

Extrifit Protein Break

The fourth place in our ranking belongs to the Protein Break protein porridge, which is produced by the well-known company Extrifit. This porridge is available in a whopping 10 flavours and combines high quality carbohydrate sources with high qualitysources of protein to get everything you actually need in your body in the morning, not just for muscle growth.

Highlights
Benefits:
  • 10 great flavours
  • Flawless taste
  • Handy pouches make them great for travel
Disadvantages:
  • High price
Summary
How we liked the porridge:

To allow for a brief comparison, I tried all 10 flavors available and it's really hard to pick just one. What they all have in common is that they all taste pretty natural because they actually contain the raw material declared in the flavor (blueberry porridge contains freeze-dried blueberries, etc.). If I absolutely had to pick one best, it would probably be vanilla, which I personally like much better than Extrifit's vanilla protein. Whichever version you choose, though, you won't go wrong.

How we rate the ingredients:

As far as the ingredients go, compared to the previous SizeAndSymmetry Protein Mash, it's a bit more extensive, but you won't find anything wrong with it in principle. The base, which is the same for all the products, consists of ground rice, instant raw80% protein concentrate, oat flakes, cereal crisps and sucralose used to sweeten. Depending on the flavour chosen, the composition is then expanded with freeze-dried fruit, defatted cocoa or ground cinnamon, for example. As in the previous case, there is nothing to complain about.

Final assessment:

The overall impression of Protein Break from Extrifit is spoiled only by the higher price, because paying for breakfast every morning is a relatively high price that not everyone is willing to pay. Nevertheless, in my opinion it is worth it, the taste is good and the composition is not to be faulted, so I definitely recommend it.

5. GreenFood Gluten-free porridge

GreenFood Gluten-free porridge

Famous taste, no gluten and an excellent composition, which is also so transparent that you can see the country of origin of all the ingredients. This is the protein gluten-free porridge from GreenFood, which simply must not be missing in the best four porridges you can find on the market.

main points
Benefits:
  • Completely transparent ingredients
  • 20g of protein per serving
  • Great value for money
Disadvantages:
  • Contains flavourings
Summary
How we rate the taste:

This protein porridge is available in seven different flavours, which there really is something for everyone to choose from. I personally love cocoa, so I chose the cocoa variant and was honestly thrilled with it. It's very intense, you can really detect the taste of cocoa and you will definitely love the porridge as much as I do.

How we rate the ingredients:

Gluten-free oat flour and gluten-free oat flakes from England, milk protein concentrate from Holland, dryCocoa powder and sucralose, a sweetener that's safe for your health. This is the full list of ingredients in GreenFood's protein porridge. Even if I tried my hardest to fault the porridge, I would have nothing.

Final rating:

GreenFood's gluten-free protein porridge is the first (and best) of a series of cheap porridgesthat often beats its more expensive competitors hands down. Even if you ignore the fact that it is gluten-free, it tastes great, the ingredients are transparent and you won't find any controversial or harmful substances in it. In short, there is nothing to recommend it.

6. MaxxWin Protein Mash

MaxxWin Protein Mash

Tasty, perfectly digestible and also available at a good price. That's exactly what the protein porridge from MaxxWin is, a nowadays perhaps a bit forgotten manufacturer, which still has a lot to offer with its supplements. And when you can choose from 7 different flavours, there's nothing to worry about.

main points
Advantages:
  • Tasty and easily digestible
  • Good value for money
  • Good sources of protein
Disadvantages:
  • One source of carbohydrates
Summary
How we liked the porridge:

Personally, out of all 7 flavors available, I chose banana and I have to admit that I was quite impressed with it despite my initial misgivings. Although it is sweet, it is definitely not over-sweetened and since the porridge actually contains banana, it comes across as very authentic and artless, which is perfectly fine by me. The only disappointment for me is that even the unflavoured version is sweetened.

How we rate the ingredients:

From my point of view, there is nothing to fault the porridge here either. The base of this porridge is instant rice, which is pre-gelatinized for better consistency. It is further enriched with milk protein concentrate, which is native and contains both whey protein and casein, inulin and chicory fibre. The porridge is sweetened with sucralose and flavoured with freeze-dried fruit.

Final rating:

Ironically, one of the cheapest porridges of our selection, which, like the previous porridges from Bulk Powders, has a lot to offer. No unnecessary ingredients, no added chemical ingredients, but great taste, good digestibility and a nice price. I can definitely only recommend it.

7. Czech Virus Protein Porridge

Czech Virus Protein Porridge

The seventh place in our ranking belongs to Perfect Protein Porridge fromCzech Virus, which takes the top spots in our rankings with iron-clad regularity. Their porridges are available in three different flavours, from which there is a choice for everyone, they are made up ofThey are made with only the finest ingredients and taste so great that you will look forward to them every morning.

Highlights
Benefits:
  • Great taste
  • Good value for money
  • Three flavours available
Disadvantages:
  • Use of xanthan gum
Summary
How we liked the porridge:

I've only had the opportunity to try two of the available flavours so far, and I have to be honest and admit that I was really impressed with the Chocolate and Coconut variant in particular. Thanks to the real milk chocolate content, the porridge tasted really goodespecially when the tiny pieces of chocolate started to melt in my mouth.

But the strawberry variant is definitely not to be missed either, due to the curd powder content the taste is very delicate and authentic, but at the same time it doesn't feel artificial at all, so I recommend it with all my heart.

How we rate the ingredients:

Despite all the fabulous taste and standards, which I am of course used to in the case of Czech Virus, one thing bothers me. The oatmeal, whey protein concentrate, milk powder, coconut chunks and milkchocolate are perfectly fine, but the use of xanthan gum spoils my overall impression of the product. While this ingredient is not a health hazard, I still don't think it is necessary in porridges and since I try to eat as few processed ingredients as possible, I don't seek out the various gums and thickeners.

Final rating:

If you don't mind the use of xanthan gum (which is commonly found in proteins, for example), there's nothing to worry about and definitely I would give the protein porridge from Czech Virus a chance, because it tastes really fabulous and the composition is otherwise more than good. In addition, it comes out very solidly in the price/quality ratio, so there is really nothing else to complain about.

8. Nutrend Protein Porridge

Nutrend Protein Porridge

At 8. In the 8th place of our ranking is Protein Porridge from Nutrend, which combines several good sources of carbohydrates with milk isolate, the ideal protein for your breakfast. Plus, you can choose from several great-tasting flavours.

Highlights
Benefits:
  • Different carbohydrate sources and milk isolate
  • Good value for money
  • Tasty porridge that fills you up
Disadvantages:
  • Contains acacia gum, anti-caking agents and fructose
Summary
How we rate the taste:

Flavour-wise, I was most impressed with the raspberry version, which contains freeze-dried raspberries and chia seeds, so the flavour is really polished. I really appreciate that the porridge is not sweet and feels completely natural. Likewise, the chocolate variant was very good, which was really intense and also one of the tastiest porridges I have tasted so far. On the other hand, the porridge variant with collagen, the Beauty Collagen Porridge, did not impress me at all, it looked completely ordinary and uninteresting.

How we rate the ingredients:

On the one hand, in the case of the Protein Porridge I really have to highlight the gluten-free oatmeal, milk protein isolate, coconut sugar, rice flour, buckwheat groats and chia seeds, but on the other hand I don't like the use of acacia gum, anti-caking agents and fructose.

In the case of Beauty Collagen Porridge, I don't like the whole idea anymore, as I don't consider collagen (or fish hydrolyzed collagen) to be a good protein. Neither in porridges nor after workouts.

Final review:

If you had to choose between Protein Porridge and Beauty Collagen Porridge, I would definitely have no hesitation I would choose Protein Porridge because I find it a thousand times better not only in its composition but also in taste. The price is very good, it will fill you up and you will enjoy it too. If you can survive a few ingredients that might not be in the porridge (but aren't health hazards), it's a good choice.

9. Extrifit Rice & Oat Mash

Extrifit Rice & Oat Mash

In ninth place in our comparison we have a single mash rankingthat's not really a protein porridge, but it definitely deserves its place here. Rice Oat Mash is a combination of oats and rice flakes, which are two great sources of carbohydrates. When you add your own protein to this porridge for breakfast, you get an unbeatable full meal.

main points
Benefits:
  • Great carbohydrate porridge
  • Really tastes good
Disadvantages:
  • Contains no protein
  • Contains flavouring
Summary
How we liked the porridge:

From my perspective, the Rice Oat Mash was one of the tastiest I've come across while making the rankings, so it definitely deserves its place here. I was really intrigued by the chocolate version, which is enriched with chocolate shavings sweetened with sucrose. These give the whole porridge a whole new dimension and you really enjoy it. I always prepared a separate chocolate protein with my porridge and my breakfast was perfect.

How we rate the ingredients:

When you look at the ingredients of Rice Oat Mash, there is almost nothing to fault it. V každém balení najdete instantní rýžové vločky, odtučněné kakao, ovesné vločky, obilné křupínky, přThe other ingredients vary depending on the flavour, but are usually freeze-dried fruit or cocoa mass. A minor drawback is that the porridge contains flavourings which, in my opinion, should not be there, but this is not a major problem.

Final rating:

If you prefer carbohydrate-only porridges rather than protein ones, Rice Oat Mash is a great choice. It tastes really good, doesn't cost too much money and ultimately the ingredients are pretty good quality, so we definitely recommend the porridge.

10. Emco Super Protein Porridge

Emco Super Protein Porridge

The last place in our comparison belongs to the protein porridge from Emco, which offers products available in almost every supermarket. This porridge is sovereignly the cheapest product in our rankingof our list, it's conveniently packaged in individual sachets and it tastes really good.

main points
Advantages:
  • Great taste
  • Very low price
Disadvantages:
  • Contains a relatively high amount of sugar
  • Protein source is soy isolate only
Summary
How we liked the porridge:

I tried Emco's protein porridge in the two available variants, namely cherry and chocolate. I found both of them surprisingly tasty, especially the chocolate is very intense and the whole pieces make it very pleasant to eat. What bothered me though is that the porridges are very sweet, for me personally this was quite a distraction. You can't use extra water or milk because the porridge would be too runny,

How we rate the ingredients:

There are several ingredients in the ingredients that give the impression that a good quality protein porridge is available even in a regular supermarket. In particular, we can highlight the oatmeal, quinoa and tapioca starch content. However, the overall impression is spoiled by the relatively large amount of sugar and soy protein isolate, which I would not imagine in my breakfast porridge.

Final rating:

If you happen to run out of instant porridge and you're looking for an emergency solution, Emco can definitely be used. However, I wouldn't see it as a regular option due to the high sugar content and the use of soy isolate only. and I would rather choose one of the porridges that are higher in the rankings.

What did we focus on in our testing?

When compiling our independent ranking, we followedseveral criteria that we believe are important for every consumer. In the case of protein porridges, these were mainly the following parameters:

  • Price, because protein porridges do not have to cost too much if they contain only basic and cheap ingredients available in every supermarket
  • Raw materials, because protein porridges should serve healthy athletes and notshould therefore not contain flavourings, colourings, thickeners, controversial sweeteners or other unnecessary or even problematic substances
  • Taste, because breakfast should be a good tasting experience and eating food that you have to force yourself to eat will not work in the long run.

Apart from these three parameters, we were of course interested in others, but these were not fixed. We addressed whether the product impressed us in some way, whether it stood out above the competition in some way, and whether it provided complete information about its product. In short, we did everything we could to bring you the most objective and most accurate ranking of the best protein porridges you'll find on the market.

Is carbohydrate or protein porridge better?

You will have noticed that there are basically two main types of porridge on the market - carbohydrate and protein. But which one is better? That depends primarily on how you set your protein intake throughout the day. From my point of view, breakfast should definitely contain some protein, so unless you are drinking, for example, a protein drink, I would definitely prefer porridge protein, which is what we tried to primarily choose for our rankings. However, if you have enough time in the morning and you want to make your own porridge for example and have a separate protein with it, this is definitely an option.

How to prepare protein porridge?

Most of the porridges we mention in our ranking today are very simple to prepare. Since they are already flavoured, all you have to do is whisk them in water or milk and they are ready in seconds. However, I usually prefer the unflavoured versions of instant porridge myself, as I can flavour them myself later. Of course, you can also flavour your porridges, but I like to knowI like them to taste natural and I don't look for any added flavourings, colourings or other substances.

I always add three basic ingredients to my unflavoured porridge, namely cinnamon, which balances outblood sugar, chia seeds, which are a great source of omega fatty acids, and 100% cocoa mass. It is the last mentioned that I can't get enough of, chocolate is a great source of potassium and can be added absolutely anywhere. In addition, the chocolate melts nicely in the warm porridge, giving you an unforgettable experience every morning.

What kind of porridge is best?

There is a plethora of porridges available on the market. It can be made from virtually any cereal, so you can choose, for example, from oatmealoatmeal, rice porridge, buckwheat porridge or porridge made from oats. But which is the best? It is impossible to say, because each of them has different benefits. I myself prefer oatmeal, which has a higher amount of fibre than the others. It contains a wide range of B vitamins, magnesium and potassium, which are very desirable food components for athletes. On the other hand, porridge has a bit more protein, in 100 grams of strawberries you will find 12 grams of protein, which is really unbeatable.

Rice porridge is perhaps slightly worse nutritionallybut on the other hand, it's great cold and it's good to take to school, for example. So it makes no sense to choose the best porridge from each one, the ideal is to rotate them regularly in the diet. This way you take in a broader spectrum of micronutrients from your diet and none of the porridges will go to waste. In case you buy instant porridges then you can also choose those that combine multiple sources of carbohydrates, which I personally recommend.

What do you season the porridge with?

There are countless ways to flavour your porridge so that it is not only nutritionally rich, but also perfectly balanced in taste. However, it's important to remember that flavourings can contain quite a few calories, so it's not worth overdoing it with some of them. An easy way to sweeten your porridge is to add stevia. This natural sweetener contains no calories, although it has a very high sweetening power. You can also flavour your porridge with fruit, for example, which usually contains fast carbohydrates, but these are not necessarily to be avoided at breakfast, for example. In addition, fruit contains many vitamins. Bananas, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, apple slices, for example, are all available, but there are no limits to the imagination.

If you want to not only flavour your porridge, but also enrich it with protein, the logical option is to addThe logical logic is to add a scoop of whey (or other) protein to the porridge and kill two birds with one stone. Proteins usually contain low-calorie sweeteners, which is also a benefit in this case. Last but not least, it is also possible to add nuts to the porridge, or various seeds containing important minerals and omega-3 fatty acids.

Can I make my own porridge at home?

In addition to buying one of the ready-made porridges, there is, of course, the possibility of preparing a protein porridge completely from scratch at home. The advantage is that in this case you have 100% control over the content of all ingredients. The disadvantage, on the other hand, is that it takes more time to prepare homemade porridge. Instead of preparing it in a few minutes, you have to set aside considerably more time and energy in this case. In addition, some porridges have quite complex ingredients that can be difficult to replicate at home. In addition, it can be more difficult to accurately measure the content of all macronutrients. Nevertheless, it is an option that appeals to some people more than buying ready-made porridges. However, if speed of preparation is important to you, we recommend that you opt for store-bought porridges.
